First of all, is it a surround sound reciever or just a stereo reciever? Does the reciever have coax cable inputs, or standard RCA inputs, or both? Also, is the reciever going to be used on dvd's as well? On a surround sound reciever, you'll also have to run separate RCA cables for the DVD player, along with the RCA cables from you cable box. If it's a plain stereo reciever, see if your TV set has audio "out" jacks on it. If it does, just connect RCA cable from TV to reciever. Then reciever will work with dvd player and cable. You can email me at crgarris74@yahoo.com and I'll answer anymore questions about it!

The cable should come from the wall to your cable box. Then from the cable box to the receiver. The receiver should also have an input for your DVD player as well. There might be diferent connections from your receiver to the TV. The best way to connect the receiver to the TV is with the mulitiple RCA jacks. These are usually red, white, and black. If your receiver does not have these than the standard cable will work.

Use a three-way splitter for the cable coming out of the digital cable box. (The one coming out of the wall goes directly into the digital cable box...) Split one to the receiver, one to the VCR and one to the TV. Then you can toggle the TV to whichever one you want to watch.

Another alternative, which is better, is to split it two way: one to the receiver and one to the VCR. Then, run an S-Cable (Supervideo cable..) from the receiver to the TV.

That way, you have the clearest picture and superior stereo sound.
