I'm just wondering why illegal immigrants are beeing "detained" Does that mean they will be deported? Are they just going to start loccating illegals and aresting/deporting them on the spot?

If an illegal immigrant is captured, they are technically supposed to be deported. Typically this occurs if they are arrested. Also, any immigrant who has not yet acheived US citizenship can be deported if they are convicted of a crime. This typically happens after their sentence is over.

However, most immigrants are not deported after being caught because of the expense involved in keeping them in lock-up until the plane/bus can be arranged. Most are sent out with orders to come back, which they don't.

they detain those that can pay and find ways to stay longer, they deport those that are too poor to pay.

They verify their papers (or lack their of), and run their fingerprints to see if they're wanted for crimes in the US (in which case, they're extradited). Then they're deported.
