the main reason we have valves in the heart and in the venous system (veins) is to prevent backflow of blood, and thereby maintaining positive flow.

It makes heart to fuction well.If valves are not workiing it will increase blood pressure inside our heart.it makes blood to travel in its specified path for specified time.
