The Two Witnesses
1I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, "Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there. 2But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months. 3And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth." 4These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. 5If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. 6These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.
7Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.

Daniel in Babylon #3, 606 years before Christ is a witness to Jesus being born in Rome #6, to his second coming, John is right in there with Daniel and first of all these are the two witnesses, now any one who understands what prophecy they are giving for what period of time is a witness as well even now, but we would do WW1 victims little good, as 2520 after Daniel was 1260 or 42 month or 3 1/2 years WW1. Rev.9:1-5; the pit was opened for Satan 150 days, the sealed of God are there and does it mean 150 years, it must because that was 92 years ago.

First off, a day is equal to a year in bible prophecy. Therefore, if these witnesses prophesiesed for 1260 days, that would be equal to 1260 years, far too long for any mortal man.

Secondly, note that the reign of Papal Rome was exactly 1260 years from 538AD until 1798AD when the Pope was taken captive by Napoleon's general Berthier.

Lastly, note that the Bible was forbidden to be read by Papal Rome during this time. This is one reason that time period is called the dark ages.

Therefore, this text is referring to the two great witnesses about Jesus Christ, the Old and New Testament. That is what the Bible does throughout is testify about Jesus Christ. It does not, as some state refer to any future period of tribulation or persecution.

These are faithful annointed Christians. They are symbolized as "two witnesses" because their message is accurate and well founded (Compare Deuteronomy 17:6; John 8;17, 18) The verse regarding the two olive trees and the two lampstands if a reference to the prophecy of Zechariah at Zechariah 4:1-3, 14)

If you have a copy of "Revelation - its grand climax at hand",then no doubt you too well know who they represent. It is very difficult to explain this to others,as many do not believe that Jehovahs Witnesses are God's people
