I thnk that the government is too easy on criminals. Look at other countries that maintain order. They do not feel pity for criminals like we do.

personally I think the government is too strict. all you have to do is look at England and Australia who just passed legislation banning all firearms. Their crime rate has sky-rocked. Let me give you a for instance, take a group of guys standing around talking, if everyone were armed there would be less of a temptation for either disrespectful behavior or a drive shooting if the antagonist knew for sure that the rest the group was armed and deadly.
The shoot outs in the old west have been over dramatized in movies and books. Most of the old time gunmen carried their guns in a pocket of their coat and left their coats on their horse. It is not the gun that causes the crime, but the person, it could be a baseball bat a knife or any other tool that could cause physical harm. I personally think that the gun related crime has not really changed that much, but with our modern communications systems we are more aware of thing happening across the country than we were just a few years ago. This is not limited to just crime related to gun usage. Terrorist actions would not have the impact they do if it were not for mass communication. Our awareness of such things as floods and hurricanes would be limited to what news was moved by stage coach, telegraph and radio. unruly conduct creates more news than good. An example the sinking of the Maine in the Havana harbor, the yellow press demanded that Spain be punished even though they had surrendered before we invaded Cuba. Another example of the war of 1812 is the Battle of New Orleans. That action took place after the treaty was signed and communicated to the field. It is awareness of events that has brought all types of crime, no matter how comitted to our attention
P.S. sorry about my spelling, for some reason spell check is not working.

Yes, but more specifically I think there are too many crimes that involve only the criminal having a gun. If we all carried a gun there would be considerably less crime. When is the last time you heard about a robbery gone bad when the victim had a gun? You haven't because it's not the news the media likes.

Heres the deal....

Criminals don't get guns legally and they don't carry guns legally.

I own and carry a gun concealed on occasion. I went through Military training for about a year and 6 years of active duty, the Local Police Academy and extensive SWAT training for 8 months and a Federal and State background check that took about 4 months.
IF you make it through all that then it is up to the Sheriff of your county whether you can carry or not...even if you pass it all he can say no.

So its not easy if you do it legally.

The last I heard, guns aren't capable of independent thought, so I doubt seriously that ANY crimes concern guns.

You, my friend, are misinformed. (As well as deficient in English language skills) Not just anyone can own a gun. There are requirements for ID, background checks, and waiting periods. Guns which are sold legally are not easy to get.

Now we get to the crux of the problem. Most crimes committed today, are not committed with guns that were obtained by legal means. Plain English? They were stolen and sold illegally by disreputable dealers or people on the street.

Stopping the sale of firearms will do absolutely NOTHING to limit crime in America. In fact, it will most likely contribute to the victim count. People who want to obtain firearms for illegal uses will continue to use illegal means to obtain them. The only people who will be hurt are law-abiding citizens who target shoot, hunt, or want them for home safety.

I think there's too many crimes that concern people. The guns are just an extension of peoples hate, frustration, and lack of respect. Take away the guns, and we'll find another way to kill.
I love my country but we are a culture of fear and violence. Slavery, War without reason, (there ere no WMD's, and the 9/11 terrorists were from saudi arabia)Rape and murder of american indians. Let's face it, we are our own worse enemy.

Who is they? Did the "government" give them the guns?
leanant is not an English word, so what government are you talking about?

I think theres too much crime in general. People don't just commit crimes when they have guns - often they do it with no weapon, or with knives, bats, etc. The government is lenient with them, most criminals get their guns illegally - which has nothing to do with the government or law abiding citizens that own firearms.
