Someone I work with claims that a 150 lb female he knows drank 36 alcoholic shots in 2 hrs and survived with no medical intervention.
When this person was told "you are FOS" they said it is possible because the female wasn't drinking to get drunk, rather they were drinking because they "liked the taste of the alcohol."
I say "liking the taste wouldn't matter - consumption is consumption." I say the female would be dead and no bar in their right mind would serve someone that excessive amount due to liability.
Please provide your thoughts.

The reason for drinking doesn't alleviate the effects. Anything is possible, but this is highly doubtful - unless he considers a shot something extremely small.

I don't know if the female would be dead or that she would of HAD to have medical intervention, but I do know she'd be $*itfaced and probably feeling it for a few days.

Edit: People, the story is 36 shots in TWO hours!

Short answer: no, it is not possible to drink 36 shots of alcohol in under 2 hour. Alcohol leaves the bloodstream at a rate of 1 oz (roughly) per hour, so this person has consumed 36 shots (somewhere between 36-54oz, since a shot is usually more than an ounce) of alcohol in 2 hours. Assuming even a 30% alcohol content, a 150lb women would have roughly a 0.5 -0.7BAC-- That would most likely put her near death or in a coma.

If the woman was a drunk it is possible, sad, but possible. (although still very unlikely).
Secondly, their response to being told FOS was the only thing about this that makes me feel like they are trying to slide one by you, no one drinks because they like the taste of alcohol. Heck, I like the taste of suckers, but I don't go eating 36 of them in two hours.
You are right, consumption is consumption once you've gone over a certain point (because even someone who has had 5 shots can sober themselves up quickly when in need).
Lastly, some bars would serve people that much alcohol, I've worked in bars and have known some dumb waitresses (and bar owners).
I think they are FOS, but thats just my opinion (and I'm guessing yours).

The only way that this is possible if "drinking because you like the taste" means that after every 3-4 shots you go to a bathroom and puke it out by sticking fingers down the throat to induce gag reflex.
This way you can sample a LOT of alcohol in one night for the taste, and not for "getting drunk."
Hope it tasted as good on the way out as it did on the way in!

He's full of it.

At that rate her blood alchohol level would have been toxic after about 45 minutes and medical intervention would have been required. (Considering it wasn't too late already) Given that she was female would have only compounded the problem as the average woman doesn't process alchohol as well (quickly) as the average man. (That has something to do with body composition and the reaction of alchohol with higher PH levels in your system.)

In essence......it would have taken her AT LEAST a day and a half to process that much out of her system on her own. There is really no way that this guy aint F-O-S!

if she was a drinker i doubt she would die but she would be totally wrecked. but also what kind of shot?? if they were straight shots of vodka, whiskey, ect. then the story is impressive but if they were party shots thats not even that much(maybe like 10 drinks worth in total). or even if they were say bl*wjob shots or another lower alcohol shot which the highest liquor content in them is under 50 proof then its a more manageable amount. theres alot of variables to this story

and bout they rest- not getting to drunk cause she like the taste, all BULL S.!!!! if u drink it, it still gets processed the same way no matter the reason for drinking

Hardly likely. You can't always believe what other people say! I totally agree with 'consumption is consumption'. Once you drink alcohol in an excess amount, you will get drunk, pass out etc!

It depends if she was eating and drinking water in between shots. I'm 98 pounds and I can drink a hell of a lot because I eat and drink every couple of shots (and I'm Irish, I was born with a pickled liver).

uhm yeah. thats a lot of damn shots. what were they shots of? if it was like Pucker or something crappy like that... well they don't have much alcohol in them, so yeah someone could def have 36 shots and survive. 3 shots of schnapps would be like on shot of liquor. Its possible. If it was hard liquor more power to her. She must be a serious alcoholic.
