What I like to do is heat up some water and add some lemons in it. it is really soothing. I had to sing a performance the next day and i had a sore throat and the lemon water really worked.

As a long-time vocalist, I've had periods of time when I simply could not afford to have a sore throat. I finally developed the habit of gargling with full-strength hydrogen peroxide (3% solution) prior to going to bed. This destroys most of the fungi and bacteria that causes throat infections. As a result, I very seldom fall prey to these maladies. I know it tastes yucky, but you will appreciate the effectiveness.

hot (herbal) tea with honey and lemon, yep they are great. there are herbal tea formulated for sore throats.
get a spoon and gently scrape your tongue - you may not be pleasantly surprised by what you see. it is a good way of getting the garbage out.
no dairy
no sugar - big time (depresses the immune sys)
and lastly, be in bed by 10 p.m. respect your bodies need to rest and replenish/heal.

Gargle salt water, then follow with Listerine. If it is caused by an infection, it always works for me! If it's sore from screaming or something like that, drink some tea.

My grandmother used to boil hot water with a lemon, along with some sugar in it. It tasted awful, but it used to help my sore throat a lot!

I like a variation of a Hot Tody.
A shot of whiskey, a herbal tea (whatever you like really, I like cardamon cinnamon tea, but Chamomile Lemon is good too), a squeeze of lemon and a good sized dollop of honey.
