Actually, the impact of this is to MINIMIZE immigration under the Senate Bill, so it is one of the few points I don't mind. Essentially in order to bring a 'guest worker' in an employer will have to show that Americans won't do the job. Since the whole point is that Americans won't do the job at the wages illegals get under the table, some required that Americans be offered, and the 'guest workers' be paid prevailing wage. That is to keep the employers from bringing in guest workers for slave wages to undercut Americans.

Employers are now trying to spin it that this is unfair to American workers, so they can get that provision deleted and bring guest workers in to work for cheap in return for access to our subsidized education and other services.

Don't fall for it.

"Foreign temporary workers" does not mean illegals. Foreigners can receive temporary work visas to come to America and legitimately work.

I am very much against illegal immigrants, and I think companies that employ them should be fined up the @. But we have to distinguish between actual illegals and legal foreigners.

Ask yourself, why would big business want to pay higher wages for foreign nationals instead of American citizens?

SO THEY CAN CONTROL THEIR LABOR FORCE.

That is paid slavery. Anyone that is for it is too blind to see. Would you take a temporary job if that meant your employers controlled all parts of your life, and if you get fired - back to where you came from.

I'd like to see one temporary worker quit and not get deported to demand a better job - and of course if they stay they still get - UNEMPLOYMENT

They are not talking about illegal immigrants, they are talking about temporary workers, which come here legally, so I think they do deserve higher wages.

I can't believe people would actually call you a racist. These people have no idea what racism is. We are not racist for wanting people to come to our county LEGALLY. How is that racism? We don't care if other people come here- but do it LEGALLY. I'm for anything that stops illegal immigration. How about making it illegal to hire them in the first place? We have rules that aren't even being enforced. I guess a lot of people are going to call me a racist, but who gives a flip?

Get a life. If higher wages means above the bloody poverty line then its the right thing to do. America, the immigrant nation, seems to forget its past..that, or your just a racist.

You are right, I know all these senators give a f*** about is votes, but do they value Illegals voting for them in the future more than we voting for them now..

Sounds good to me... More incentive for them to higher American workers. I like where their head is at.

You probably have it all wrong, but in case you haven't, this only means that they would not get hired legally unless they are exceptionally good. Why would you hire someone for more if you can legally hire someone else for less.

That was dumb.
