It varies according to the network, the show, the day it's on, etc. You can generally find some shows starting up in late August, most start in September, but some wait until October or November.

for as long as I can remember, some shows get a few (2-4) airings it the summer as a trial and most start up in the fall....hence as it has always been known "the fall line-up"
