No, because you have a cat. Yes, they require little attention or food. Yes, if you don't clean the shavings they smell awful.

Mice are great pets, but not for one who has other larger pets. Especially if they are still young and active, and if your idea of excercise for the mouse is an excercise ball. Poor little mouse may die of a heart attack trying to get away from the curious Chiwauwa, or cat.
They only smell if you don't clean their shavings frequently, and they are low maintenance pets.

I dont recommend them. They are kinda boring. Maybe a hamster is a better idea for you, cause they are cute and smarter than mice, and can go in those little balls and roll around your house for exercise. But like any animal, they can smell if you dont clean their cage well on a regular basis. I also recommend, with any animal like a mouse, hamster, etc. to shy away from those plastic rodent habitats. Those kind of animals scratch, and they make so much noise! Try an aquarium instead. They sell the ones that cannot hold water for super cheap at pet stores or on Craigslist.com, you can find all you need sometimes for FREE!!

Mice are great pets to have. If your concerned about the smell I would get 2 females since they dont smell as bad as the males. They're pretty easy to care for.

They smell if you don't clean their cages often enough. They don't have as nasty a bite as hamsters and they come in a variety of beautiful colors. They are fairly easy to take care of and they are pretty inexpensive to replace. Unfortunately, they usually only live about a year or so. Also make sure you have a heavy/cat proof cage if you decide to get one. And remember never get a pair unless you want twenty more.

They are nasty, stinky little things. All though they would make a great chew toy for your dog or cat.
