I love Utah! The weather is usually beautiful in the southern half of the state. The north can get pretty fridgid in the middle of the winter, but if you love winter sports, you won't mind that too much. I am LDS and I like the environment. There isn't too much alcohol and that sort of environment that you have to deal with. I must admit though, many people get the wrong idea about us "Utah Mormons". I have been told that we tend to be a little less welcoming and friendly compared to others of the LDS religion that live outside of the Mormon-centered area. Take into consideration that every person is different. There are dipsticks wherever you are. Overall, I think you will enjoy it. There are lots of things to do if you are into the outdoors. I have lived here all of my life and I am yet to be bored with hikes and views. It is such a neat place.

I am from Utah and just like any other state, it has its good qualities and bad qualities. So far, for the most part I've liked living here. The good qualities include: Beautiful mountains and Forrest's, The best Skiing and Snowboarding in Winter, Tons of lakes to swim in in the hot summer, river rafting, the most national parks with the most amazing geology you will ever see, Dinosaur bones, nice people (but beware, I'll tell you in the BAD section), the best movie theaters (Salt Lake City) and there is a lot to do in the city. Plus natural disasters are very rare in Salt Lake City. The Bad things are: No cultural diversity, except Hispanics, Mormons are nice people but a lot of them do look down upon you if you are not mormon, drink caffeine, do anything on sunday, drink alcohol, smoke, where strapless or even tank-tops. I was always teased by mormon kids growing up because I wore a crucifix necklace. There aren't very many polygamist people here. They are mostly down south or in Colorado.

Utah is great. Moab, best place to hike/mountain bike/camp, in the world. Skiing there, awesome. Independent Film Festival with Robert Redford in Park City, fantastic! People there are nice. Forget to lock your car, it'll still be there in the morning. It gets cold in the winter. Hot in the summertime. It really is pretty nice. However, finding stuff to do, like shopping or city stuff.... yeah, probably not the best. But not bad. Lots of open space.

Its a giant desert, very dry, hot in the summer and bitterly cold in the winter. Its pretty boring there, the Mormon church has unofficially abolished fun from the state.... thats just my opinion as a person who travels to SLC twice a month.

And sammysamich, technically the Mormons are from New York.
