Padraig, I asnwered your question about your family memebr and whether to tell them to their face or not.
I would suggest getting some counselling, I am seeing a counsellor tomorrow for my fifth session. He is helping me realise that what others think of me isn't as important as I once believed. I would definately go and see someone. I thought for years that there was something wrong with me, and after just 6 weeks I am much more confident.
Good luck my friend....

Firstly, and I can't say this clearly enough: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU! If you go through life believing that you have problems, other people will believe that too, and then you'll be right.
Secondly, and I can't say this clearly enough either: THERE ARE NO THOUGHTS YOU SHOULDN'T THINK! There are of course plenty of things you shouldn't DO, and very good reasons why you shouldn't do them, but there's a BIG, HUGE, MASSIVE difference between thinking something - no matter how depraved - and doing it. Trust me, you're not the first person to have dirty/sick thoughts. And there's no reason whatsoever to think these thoughts make you a dirty/sick person.
Good luck:-)

Try to find one person even more pitiful and hopeless than you are. Befriend them. Continue until you have enough friends to make a "Revenge of the Nerds" movie sequel
Serioiusly, many young people feel the way you do. In fact, some of the most popular people you see may have the same malady, and have overcome it or else are overcompensating.

Make friends or connection with the another person who seem to a only few friends, then these connection will becomes yours by association, and not too much effort. Ask them qestion about themselves (people like to talk about themselves) and they will remember you were interested in them so will look out for you again, and probably inrtoduce you to more people. TRY to MAKE EYE CONTACT, people recpect that!
