Not sure about the folks you mentioned but the best kebabs I
have ever had were in Romania. There is a small animal there
that looks like a gerbil. It is called a Limba in their language.
They stuff it with rice,pimientos and sage and then roast it on
a skewer for about 1 hour. After removing from the skewer they
soak it in a mixture of red wine,cloves and paprika for about
6 hours. It then goes back on the skewer to roast for an additional
15 minutes.
It is typically served with corn fritters,fried onions and capers.

The Greeks and Lebanese have it hands down.
And yes, Greeks do call them kebabs. It's not something that's made in the west, but it's very common in the mountains of the east. The Turks do alright, but they don't have their heart in it. Israelis are more into the falafel for some reason.

The Turks of course since it is there creation. There is alot of really good Doner Kebab places in Berlin.
Lebanese and Israelies are more into humous and falafel, and pita but instead of using mint or yogurt dressing they use Israeli salat.

Greeks would never call it Kebab - for that they often would use pork which the Muslim countries would not.
Israelis make Kebab? Never heard of...

Indians.... any day. Try a simple seekh kabab. Mince, onions, chillies, cumin powder, dried sour mango powder, egg. Skewer it and serve with a slice of lemon.... that's heaven
