there is only one reason why i haven't packed my stuff and moved to Canada and it's the rebelism of America if that's even a word and the ********* i like being able to say that I'm from a country were i don't have to hide. in certain country's u need to hide your face or your beliefs or your sexuality even I'm not saying we don't have our problems but it's at those hard times that i think about our manifest destiny and that's what i meant about rebelism to say without a doubt in our head that one day we would be from the Atlantic to the pacific just makes me grin

Although I agree Europe might become a united country much like America, the states of America have the right to secede from each other. At least that depends on how you interpret the constitution. Thus you will find certain groups who advocate such a state departure...whether the rest of the country would allow this to happen peacefully is another matter, especially if that state's economy is vital to the rest of the country.
I don't think such a dissolution of states will happen, at least not anytime soon, but it is possible.

Hard to say. You don't tell us what it is about Europe that you think we might become. America is strong because it is a group of states that are united. In the old world, each of those would have been countries. I think it is a good way to do it. I suspect Europe is more likely to band together like we did. It would be a good idea for Africa also, because individually, the rest of the world ignores them. More clout would work in their favor.

anything could happen now a days, america isn't what it used to be, we will have to face it.
We went from ranking #1 for the most intelligent nation down to #8
Our economy isn't doing the greatest
We still have the best military power, but china is starting to pull ahead
we may go through some really hard times in the next few decades, but if everyone pulls together we can make it through, if not then, yes, america could turn into something like europe, although I extremely doubt it

I think if the corruption of the South American countries was eliminated it would be very likely to find stong agreements between all of the countries of the Americas. Europe is pretty united right now, and only 60 years ago they were fighting a terrible was with eachother. You never know what the future holds.

No, I don't. Actually, (and don't shoot me for this), I see the European Union as becoming more like the United States in its form of government. We Americans live in individual states that have differing laws, but we have a higher government, the Federal government, that controls things that apply to all states. In a similar manner, Europe is composed of member countries with differing laws but also has a higher government, the European Union. Now, the EU doesn't have as much say as the American Federal government, but the American Federal government didn't have much power in the beginning, either.

You may want to take a look at what's going on. Instead of all the different currencies like Marks, Francs, etc., we now have the Euro.
Each country is now a state in the EU.
Who is imitating who?
