I work for a major corporation which I KNOWS hires illegals. They KNOWINGLY give jobs to them. It is the largest chain of its kind within the world - and no I do not work for Walmart.. Some will claim they first did it because they know how to speak Spanish - but the fact is that there are American citizens that can do the very same thing just as well - all the while still saying that they 'only hire legals'. I personally have watched as jobs are given to illegals for a number of reasons. A simple look at a newspaper will confirm this.
1. They don't give them the benefits that they give to citizens. They know that they will not complain because they are illegal. But then why do they have to - the tax payers are picking up the tab. While some will claim that illegals pay taxes - they are taking out more from the system than they are putting in.
2. Because companies knowingly hire illegals and know that there is an endless stream that don't complain - who is going to do anything about it? The companies that knowingly do this? I don't think so...... Because they know what they are doing is working for them (and it helps to keep those CEO pay rates where they are) they start not giving jobs to citizens because they know the going rate. Have you not noticed how the average income isn't in stride with inflation? benefits being cut? retirement packages being ripped to shreds?
All the jobs that are being taken are NOT just agricultural jobs.
All illegals are not just Mexicans or those from south of the American border.
A department store/mart that is known to all and a chicken packing company that is known to all are just two such examples of what I am writing about. The same can be said of major construction, labor, clerical, maintenance - you name the job. Even doctors are being brought into the country on visas (so legal) to work in hospitals that's medical standards are nowhere close to what we have within this country. I have a friend that nearly was killed by such a 'doctor' within a local hospital and to keep it from being known got free treatment - while the 'doctor' still is working within the hospitals of the area.
Check out how many actual arrests have been made (not made) in the last 4 years compared to previous years (don't count the photo ops that Bush had made after this started brewing the start of this year).
Who - or better, what is responsible for illegal immigration? According to a written statement by Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Richard Mills said, "Much of what drives illegal immigration is a desire for economic opportunity." Dan Stein, president of the Federation for Immigration Reform says of the Clinton-era North American Free Trade Agreement or NAFTA, "was sold as a solution to illegal immigration. All it did was make it worse. Why do we want to keep repeating stupid ideas solely because it helps redistribute income?"
Considering the inflation and problems that we face within the United States now and what is seen coming - time to look who really is getting the money and how much really is going to workers, legal workers, who besides the coyotes are making a profit at the expense of not only the illegals but the citizens of the United States.

I'm afraid I won't be able to give sources, but I live in Mexico and have been keeping somewhat up on the topic. The jobs that illegal immigrants "take" are low-paying jobs: restaurant work, janitor, construction (which isn't low-paying if you're union). These are jobs that in the last few decades have been generally occupied by low-income African Americans. I saw some interesting debates on CNN about this topic in particular.
Employers looking at the bottom line hire at the lowest possible wage. Illegal immigrants are willing to work at or below minimum wage. I wouldn't say that corporate America is responsible for illegal immigration, but employers that hire illegal immigrants to save a buck are certainly a huge part of the issue. If there were no jobs, they wouldn't be coming to the U.S. Paperwork is fairly easy to come by, so most immigrants will have some sort of document, often suspicious. Employers will often claim that they didn't know someone was illegal, citing the piece of paperwork that was given to them. I can't give a list of corporations that have been caught for hiring illegal immigrants, but I know that Wal-Mart got into some trouble over it. If you've been keeping up on the Wal-Mart issue (low pay, forced unpaid overtime, lack of services, racism, sexism, etc.) it can give you some idea of how corporations might contrbute to the immigration problem in the U.S.
I know there's no sources, but I hope can answer your question a bit. This is certainly my perspective adopted from the news sources that I traditionally follow: CNN, NY Times, Truthout.org, and real life experience.

Illegal immigrants usually go for jobs in the farming industry. They are not hurting anyone as the only reason they have these jobs is because no legal immigrants or citizens have taken them in the first place, and these positions are opening and closing all the time. Anyone can find a job in a week, it is just if they are willing to do some hardwork.

ok kid, i'm not going to get into the immigration issue, but the "taking jobs" part is like this: the immigrants or migrant workers or mexicans or whatever label you want to put on them arent taking jobs from any american.
i say this because no average american wants to go out into a field and pick produce or dig up sugar beets all day every day in the hot-*** burning sun. we dont want to do that because we think we're too good for it.
however, latinos in general have twice the work ethic of the average american, and are more than willing to work an honest days labor for an almost honest days pay, and thereby feed their families and attempt to improve their lot in life, even if the only way this country allows them to do so is by illegally crossing the border.
they arent bad people trying to steal anything from anybody, but produce farmers need workers, and the border crossers are far more willing to bend their backs all day than us lazy damn americans.
as i see it, i hasnt got a thing to do with corporations, because theyre two or three steps up the ladder from the producers to begin with. unless someone is making the claim that by purchasing product from producers that utilize the efforts of migrant workers, corporations are enabling illegal immigration to continue unabated. but i think thats just reaching.
i think the claim is bs.

Having been in the construction industry I have seen many illegals doing masonry, laboring (clean up) and drywalling.
But that is small business.
Large corporations include chicken processing plants (Tyson) , Wall Mart, Haliburton, IFCO Systems North America (1100 illegal immigrant workers) to name a few...

They take janitor jobs, maid jobs, fruit picking jobs, and ditch digging jobs. They also take small time construction jobs while hanging around outside the Home Depot.
This benefits the corporations because these major agriculture places (Kraft) or companies like Wal Mart can pay them less than minimum wage - under the table, avoid paying health care benefits, unemployment benefits, Labor & Industry taxes and those guys work hard to get just basic sub-standard wages!

I can tell you have never worked a day in your life, corporations, or "rich people = Farms, fisherman, contractors and the likes, naming names could be slanderous.
illegal immigrants, why worry about that and not that the government sets the SS retirement age up, the poverty that already exist in America, oh well why not just live like they do in India, you make it great if not I guess God hates you, give all our jobs away, it starts with one thing then they move on to something else, so sooner or later they will be they Americans and your kids better hope you can support them, ya no one wants to work in the fields, well rehabilitate the prisoners and make them work off their rape crime or child molestation or drug crime, we already pay for them and the farmer could pay then pennies

Do your own research. Agriculture wants them and having illegals isn't good enough now because the underclass illegal economy is so huge now, their workers segue into construction and don't want to pick strawberries.
Construction likes not having to pay the wages they used to have to pay Americans. Hospitality industry just funded a poll showing how much we all want amnesty and has asked Congress to make sure there is a guest worker program (at Specter's hearing.)
Just put 'immigration' or 'guest worker program employers' in your browser.

Texas Co. Hired Illegals to Make MREs
McALLEN, Texas, Oct. 28, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(AP) A Texas employment agency was sentenced to five years of probation for hiring illegal immigrants to work at the nation's top producer of military battlefield rations, federal prosecutors said Thursday.
The Tollin Group was also fined $20,000 and ordered to pay $414,000 in civil penalties Wednesday. It has been barred from Department of Defense contracts for three years.
The San Antonio-based company, which does business as Remedy Intelligent Staffing, pleaded guilty in January to hiring illegal immigrants and trying to cover it up by falsifying employment eligibility forms. The workers were hired for Wornick Co., which makes MREs _ or "meals ready-to-eat."
The investigation was initiated in February 2003 after an al-Qaida operative was arrested with information pointing to McAllen and Wornick as terrorist targets. Wornick had been awarded a $47 million contract to produce more than 1.1 million MREs for U.S. forces in Iraq.
The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force ran background checks on Wornick employees and found hundreds of temporary employees with fraudulent documentation.
No direct link to terrorism was found.

the simple fact is... there are compaines... small or large... that abuse the immigrant labor...
if you make the penalties harsh enough... they won't hire illegals any more... and there won't be a job market... and they will stop coming...
no wall needed or soldiers... only legislation...
I don't think it's so much "rich people" as much as many businesses...
I don't need to cite basic facts that everyone knows... do you dispute what I'm saying?
