Actually, the answer above isn't exactly correct.

Cheongyang is actually a region in Korea where peppers are grown. Gochu refers to pepper.

Technically speaking, Cheongyang Gochu doesn't exist in the U.S., the only translation would be "Cheongyang Pepper". The reason why they're so famous is that they have a distinct taste different from other Korean peppers. They're hot, but also have a "shiwonhan" taste as well.
