Absolutely not. Cruise Control is basically like using a brick on the gas pedal (not advised), instead of using your foot. It doesnt matter if it's a brick, your foot, or cruise control pressing the gas -- your car will get the same gas mileage. The fewer the fluctuations in braking and acceleration the better gas mileage you will get, thus cruise control will probably get you BETTER gas mileage than driving without.

heck no, it actually saves gas. usually people driving are constantly changing their foot position as they drive (passing, accelerating) which eats gas. The same reason why freeway driving itself saves gas, its the engine RPMs going up and down (as in stop-and-go driving) that uses more gas. Staying at a constant speed and economical RPM keeps the engine in the RPM for better gas mileage. Gas into the engine is determined by how much air is going in. The higher RPM, the more gas is going in. but also, at low RPM the air isnt traveling in as fast which doesnt burn the gas as well. At around 2000+ RPM the air is flowing in well and able to burn the gas completely to get the most out of it.

No, it saves gas. Rather than constantly speeding up and slowing down as your foot moves, it maintains a constant speed.
