If you're travelling on commercial air flights, probably you can do it on the order of 48 hours. Some of my Indian co-workers say it can take 24 hours to get to Mumbai, which is about half way around the world from California, so doubling that to come back gives 48 hours.

If you walk, well you'll drown, but if you could, the circumference of the earth is about 25,000 miles. If you walk at a steady 3 mph and never rest, that's over 8300 hours or 346 days -- nearly a year.

The fast ferry Cat-Link V holds the record for the transatlantic crossing (the "Blue Riband") at an average speed of 41 knots.
The earth circumference is 21,700 nautical miles, so that's about 530 hours or 23 days if you can blaze right through the Panama canal. And Africa.

The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer has the current record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe, at 76 hours and 45 minutes, having flown a distance of 22,931.67 nautical miles or 26,389.3 statute (normal) miles. This is also the world record for longest (distance) unrefueled flight.
