English major here, I'm not very familliar with Poly Sci. but you should stick to something that interests you and make a long long arguement about it. As I'm sure you know, that's the basis of any paper/thesis. And stay away from the everday topics like abortion or Gay marriage... those will make your profs yawn. Some possibilities:

Legalizing female toplessness (I am a woman, and I wrote a great paper on that once (A-) and I am all for it).

Does recycling actually benefit the earth and humanity?

It would help if I knew what topics Political Science studies. Sounds like maybe you need to concentate on Social changes versus Political changes? Like does society evolve according to government, or does the government evolve according to society? Are there parallels? Is it all just bullshit anyway?

Good luck. I hope I was helpful, but I'm leaving here as clueless about Political Science as I was when I signed in.

I think it's interesting how women are actually 52% of the population, but during election years we are commonly marginalized as "the women's vote," and supposed to be a "special interest." I proposed that as a thesis for a course a while ago and it was well received by my instructor.

You could also write about the electoral college--its origins and whether it is still necessary or appropriate today. You could debate whether instituting direct election would encourage more political participation and increase voter turnout.

You could write about how conducting elections by mail ballot afffects voter turnout. Or about computerized voting systems--how accurate they are, how accessible to the elderly and disabled, and how they would affect recount situations.

How about the changing political landscape in California, where Hispanics are soon to become the largest ethnic group, and therefore a large block of the electorate. This change is happening all over the country, so how will the Hispanic vote change politics over the next 10-20 years?

Correlation between whether an area is Republican, Democratic, or Independent and how many Hooters restaraunts there are in the area.

I believe that the professors will never forget this one and that you will be a legend.

You can probably get a list of Hooters locations off the Hooters website.

You can easily get the data of how states voted in the last couple of presidential elections.

If you want to get fancy, you could have Hooters restaraunts per person and put in population data for each of the states.

Good Luck
