oh yeah, there is :)
It's called "encryption" and there are many programs out there, some free ones too that will let you encrypt folders, many things on your hard drive to keep snoopy noses from seeing, also helps protects your files in case of a virus etc.

Are you trying to make it so that other users on the computer cant get to it? If so, make the folder private, then it will ask for your password to get in, but if the people that use the computer know your password then its no use. to do this, right click on the wanted folder, then click sharing and security, in that box check the first option to make it private.

.htaccess files are very common. Its a file you create in a text editor and add your username and password to and whatever folder this file resides in will be password protected. You may want to check with your hosting provider or go to http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/htaccess/3 for more information.

In Windows: open properties of your folder, then press "Advanced", check "Encrypt ..." on that ntfs folder. Only the person who has logged with your account will be able to decrypt files.

in WORD/EXCEL whatevr u're using go to TOOLS>OPTIONS> and you can put a password on that particular file so that no1 on UR computer can see it

PS - the file should be open
