I have seen alot of Alien Invasion Movies in my life. Some were much better than others. Which Alien Invasion Movies have been the best? The two best that come to my head are "War of the Worlds(2005 Version) and Independence Day..What are yours?

The first one that popped into my head was the recent War of the Worlds movie. The second one that popped into my head is "The Body Snatchers." Both very excellent movies.

A. Most audiences can identify with civilians trying to survive more than military types. B. Usually the aliens are FAR more powerful than the humans (thus the war itself is pretty brief and definitely one sided) and the actual war is usually relatively short with the rest of the film being about the aliens hunting down the survivors. This makes the aliens a more imposing menace. C. Realism and Sci-fi movies don't always mix very well. A Sci-fi movie that's too realistic can end up being laughably cheesy or boring. Most people want over-the-top characters in over-the-top situations. Not realistic alien vs. human wars.

My favorite Alien Invasion Movie is the original version of, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, that was a great, scary and realistic invasion movie, that gave me nightmares for months.

Mars Attacks was the best alien invasion movie there ever was. It has a lot of celebrities and it is funny as hell.

Independence Day. Also The Day The Earth Stood Still. If you were to hear the title tune, you'd keep on your toes, all night and have trouble sleeping.
