Your child's school system should have some programs in place to start you out. Do not hesitate to go to the guidance counselor, school psychologist or social worker, his/her teacher, and the principal---they have a vat of resources before them. They will probably recommend that you consult your child's pediatrician who will place your child on some sort of medication to start managing his/her behavior.
If you have found that you are getting nowhere in the education arena, don't give up---your child can get help elsewhere. The Easter Seals Society, a local Child Study Center, the Mental Health/Mental Retardation(MHMR), your county hospital and any disabilities assistance program in your state are good sources of help. Also, don't leave out websites that address these conditions--just type in bipolar, or obsessive compulsive disorder into the search box and it will lead you somewhere. Don't give up, it is a long road, but you can get the help you need. I used to work with teens who had emotional disorders, and although it was difficult, they were getting help through the program they were in. It does take a lot of footwork, however. You can get to the place of normalcy,it just takes time.

That is rough. I know I am bi polar. Think of what your child is going though though and less of what you are going though. Imagine the difficulty he or she must be facing. Oh and in case the doctor did not tell you the bi polar meds only take some of the problems away. So you and the child will still have to deal with some of them and they will change from time to time. that is the fun part. Good luck and take it one day at a time do not rush things if you ever need to talk my email is sweetangel4716@yahoo.com. sometimes it helps to talk to someone who has it and can give you some insight that maybe they can't, remember he or she will want to tell you things but will not beable to because it will be all jumbled in there with the 50000000000000 other things they got going on in there so when they get frustrated and act weird and get mad don't jump to conclusions just let the child work it out. just a hint hope it helps.

With alot of love and patience!! I know its difficult, but its not the childs fault, the more patience you have honestly the better it will be for the child. Good Luck, and bless you.
