You tell me? I know one thing. 99% of the things we worry about never seem to materialize, don't sweat the small **** and it is all small ****. Go visit a childerns hospital and read some books to the kids. Visit a retierment home and do the same or just chat. Getting out of ones self is a sure fire way to get a prespective on the rest of the world. Worried about health? A 10 year old boy in my neighborhood was killed two days ago rideing his bike. Are some bills past due? Go on line and google world hunger. Make a gratitude list and stick it in your pocket, take it out when you get depressed. There may be more to this than a simple cheering up can handle so maybe you should seek professional help. A good ear is worth a million bucks. Try to stay away from the meds and don't do anything stupid. Whatever is bothering us today will be laughed about forgotten or scensless in a few weeks or months maybe even a day or two. Good luck and if ya need a place to vent just drop me an e-bomb.

You don't have to have a terrible life to suffer from depression. Depression is a chemical in balance, and stress and other factors can cause this. When this occurs people generally don't have to be on anti depressants for a long period of time. Usually 6 months up to 1 year and when you level off, you don't need to take them anymore. Just long enough to help you over this hump. You said your engaged, so a bell in my head went off. Have you just recently gone on a birth control pill or patch? If you have been on one for sometimes, then possibly have you changed to another dosage?Birth control can also cause you to feel depressed if its not right for your body. By all mean though, go see your Doctor. That's the best advice you should take. I am sure things will get better soon.

Depression is a recognized illness, If you feel you have it or you do is something that only a doctor can diagnose. I have a link for you to check out, I suffer from chronic depression and with therapy and medication live a fairly normal life. There are many types and which you may have cannot be solved on a forum like this. Check with your doctor and I wish you the best of luck. It may help to take the results with you to explain to him or her just what it is your feeling and how often.

A lot of depression is caused by negative self esteem. It doesn't matter that you have a great life if you spend all of your time beating yourself up. Listen to and censor your inner voice. What does it say? Is it telling you that you are rubbish and have no ability? Once you start to be aware of it, you can change it.

Work on this and see your doctor, the drugs DO work, sometimes you just have to persevere. Look after yourself, and try to do one nice thing for you every day.

That sounds EXACTLY like what I went through. You should try antidepressants. It's just the chemical imbalance that is causing you to feel so negatively. If one pill doesn't work, ask to try another. Different ones work in different ways and I even had vastly different results from ones that were supposed to work the same way.

Seriously, it's completely chemical and you will be so glad you tried medication.

the best way to change your state of mind is to change your physcial state, try going to the gym more, go for a run. Also get a friendly dog or have a child, depression is a state of mind, and you have the power to change your state of mind so go do it
