That depends upon the specific state law. Some states draw a firm line at the age of consent while others allow for a "window" where a 15 & 17 year old might be OK even when the age is 16. You need to consult with an attorney licensed in your state to get an exact interpretation of the law.
Since you failed to post your state, it's not possible to research it any further. On-line research has its limitations as well, as sites that cover this topic may not be up-to-date and recent changes in the law could either protect you or condemn you.
Hint: If you're being brought up on charges, you already know the answer. If the 15 yr old's parents are threatening charges, they've probably already checked the law. They MIGHT be blowing smoke, but do you want to risk a lifetime on sex-offender registries and find out the hard way??
Based on the information that you provided outside of this forum, I'd suggest that you back down until the young lady turns 16. The laws are vague enough in your state that you could find yourself in deep doo-doo if her parents push the issue. There is NO love that is worthy of a lifetime on sex-offender registries; let alone a stretch in prison as the "girlfriend" of some big, hairy, smelly ogre.

Any 17 year old who is going to have sex with a 15 year old is going to rob somthing from the 15 year old who will wish they could get it back years down the road. If its just random sex, they will only be hurting each other, and if they love each other so much that they want to have sex or whatever, than why not wait til they are both 18 instead of just making regrets.

Yes, charges can be pressed; the 15-year old legally cannot consent to sex, thus the person having sex with him/her is raping them.

In most states, there has to be a difference in age of more than 4 years.

yes charges can be pressed, even after the person turned 16 be cause the sex happened when the person was under age. i have seen court cases years after it happened . so even if the person under age is only a few days or even hours it can be pressed

I'd say youre fine. It's not a big age difference at all and not statutory rape.

Yes. It would be statutory rape and there is a big jail sentence that goes with it. Leave little girls alone.
