Signs Of Missed Miscarriage

I am pretty sure that missed miscarriages happen when you don't know your pregnant and you miscarry with a period. I had a miscarriage a little over a year ago and I bled (very light for a couple of days then like a regular period for a couple of weeks) and I had some very mild cramping. But the bleeding and cramping vary from person to person. I was 9 weeks along when I lost my baby and all my pregnancy symptoms gradually went away as my hormone levels returned back to normal. Please try to relax! Remember stress is bad for your unborn baby and your body. Just have faith that everything is ok and more than likely it is. Call your doctor if you start bleeding or are having cramps that worry you and they will be able to guide you from there. Good luck!

If you're 19 weeks, you don't have too much to worry about, barely any of the reporte miscarriages happen after 13 weeks. Also, there isn't a whole lot you can do until then, your OB appointments should be once a month--you are gonig to have to calm yourself down! Assumeeverything is okay until you have reason to believe otherwise. If you were having a miscarriage, from xperience, you would have cramping, not just small cramps, but big period cramps that made it hard to stand up straight, you would probably have lower back pain, and not the normal lower back pain you get while pregnant, but bring you to tears lower back pain, you would probably start to spot, and if you don't have any of those symptoms, you HAVE to relax...the stress you're putting yourself through mentally is not good for pregnancy.

Some of the warning signs are:

1. Severe back pain
2. Weight loss
3. White-Pink Mucus(more than usual about three tablespoons or more )
4. Constant Braxton Hicks contractions that do not disappear over a days time. Braxton Hicks Contractions are usually painless with non-consistent tightening of the uterus
5. True Contractions. Very Painful, happening every 5-20 minutes
6. Frequent Bowel Movements (emptying out)
7. Blood

If you have any of these signs contact your O.B GYN and make an immediate appointment for that day. Make absolute sure you get a pelvic and cervical exam. Do NOT leave until you get a cervical exam.

If your cervix is opened they will give you medication and bed rest. One of the best medications to prevent pre-mature birth is terbutaline :brand name: BRETHINE , which stops the contractions, but you need to get to the doctors after the first contraction to make sure you get there on time.

For women who have had previous miscarriages and your cervix is open they will put a stitch in your cervix to keep it closed (Cerclage), but for women who have never had a miscarriage before they are reluctant to do so, if at all possible demand one. Remember this is the life of your child and is not something the doctors should take lightly.

If you have miscarried and missed it, (which is not likely, as others have said you will most likely have had cramping and you will certainly have had bleeding), what will freaking out accomplish? Sadly nothing...if you have miscarried at 19 weeks there is absolutly nothing which can be done, and if you are threatening to miscarry at 19 weeks there is still nothing which can be done. It is sad but true.

If you have no bleeding or cramping, then you probably have not lost the baby. All women worry about the baby, and early on it is hard to reassure yourself because there is no kicking or movement. It is hard not knowing.

If I have someone call me with your concerns, and it happens often-you are not the only one, I offer to listen in on the baby to hear the heartbeat. This is reassuring to the mother. Perhaps if you call your doctor's or midwife's office and ask if it was possible to have them listen in to reassure you that the baby was ok they would schedule you in before your next appointment. Most caring people understand a mother's anxiety and will try to help.

I know this answer is a bit long winded..but my advice is to relax-you cannot change anything, know this worry is normal, and ask for a reassurance listen in.

Good luck to you...I wish I could help more.

ps pay no attention to Spock's post...they are misinformed.

If you are concerned then I would suggest that you call your doctor or the hospital. They will be able to help you. Why are you so concerned with this? If the baby is not moving alot and that has you scared then I would let my doctor know this. My baby didn't move for 2 days and I almost freaked out but he was in transition from breech to head down. Take a warm bath and lay back and see if the baby moves. You could also try drinking some orange juice and laying on your back and gently rock your belly to see if the baby moves.
Above and beyond call someone even with my suggestions. This is a scarey feeling.

I've had a couple myself. First of all, alot of bleeding. In addition, you will see what appears to be clotting. Keep a careful eye to watch for the fetus to pass and try to save it to bring with you to the doctor for further examination/testing. I would have to say if you see any of the above, then you can be fairly certain that you have had a miscarriage. Most important, if you are bleeding, get to your ob/gyn immediately, regardless of how light or heavy the flow. You cannot wait 2 weeks or even 2 days for that matter. Your doctor might want to perform a D&C, if you miscarry, as mine did.

If you're 19 weeks pregnant trust and believe you shouldn't be worried about a miscarriage you probably can't even feel your baby move yet its probably not even a stillbirth your only freaking yourself out for no reason stop it before something does happen to your baby.

if your having no cramping bleeding or anything relax.you may be overreacting.i had a friend whose baby died in utero last year. they gave her meds to remove it. and she was only 8 weeks. go to the er if you cant feel your baby moving at all for 24 hours. they will do an ultrasound to reassure you that everything is fine and if not they will help you get through it.
