The absolutely love "The Last Samurai" not because of the cheesy fact that Tom Cruise is in it (believe you me, he is the reason why the movie isn't superior), it is because of the beautiful representation of the spiritual aspects of Japan and typical Asian cultures.
I loved the movie with all my heart, and the culture of the samurai it portrayed with all the beautiful scenery captured my heart and reflected upon my soul.
The movie almost made me cry over its outstanding enlightening beauty.

I can't pick just one. But here are the movies I can watch repeatedly and never be bored with it:
Basketball Diaries - drama (true story)
Ghost World - dark comedy...strange, but funny
Welcome to the Dollhouse - dark comedy...mean yet hilarious because it's just a movie
Pulp Fiction - strange drama/action/comedy...either you get it or don't
This Boys Life - drama (true story)
From Hell - old style horror/drama (Jack the Ripper)
Clockwork Orange - very strange...either you get it or you don't
People vs. Larry Flint - drama (true story)
Buffalo 66 - strange but great flick
Office Space - friggin' hilarious if you work in an office
Meet the Parents - stupid kind of funny
Napoleon Dynamite - funny...either you get it or you don't
Breakfast Club - this one doesn't even need a description
Full Metal Jacket - excellent war flick with a good story
Bowling for Columbine - interesting documentary
the infamous Fahrenheit 9/11 - one-sided but yet interesting documentary
Most people don't like the same kind of movies as me...but at least my favorites aren't the same 'ol crap. Too many movies are similar...especially action flicks. I like variety. And a different, yet good, movie.

I believe that at the different times from the life and different moods, you will have different favorites. At this moment mine it is a beautiful German, winning film of several prizes during 2005, called Princess Massai, "Die Wessei Massai" in original language. It is a history of love between a Swedish woman and a soldier massai. Love by on all the things. Enjoy.

The Color Purple.
It was dramatic, funny at times and down right wonderful. And it was a movie about blacks back in post slavery time that was not totally demeaning and degrading to us. It is the only movie I can watch over and over again. Whoopie should have at least been nominated for the Oscar.

Fight Club, The Boondock Saints, Slingblade, 12 Monkeys, Seven, A Clockwork Orange are my favs, due to the fact that they are not "conventional" or main stream.

I have two favorites. I LOVE the Notebook. It is one of the most endearing movies I've ever seen. I also LOVE Finding Neverland. Beautiful cinematography. :)
