I live in a council flat and I usually park my bike at the stairs railings inside the building all chained up. But the other day i didn't lock the tyres (i usually do)and it got stolen! Bastards took the back wheel.

Has anything similar ever happened to you? I would like hear your story. I've got my bike insured when I bought it but I don't know if they will give me a new wheel or money to buy it myself? The back wheel is a quick release and it wasn't locked.

Where can I buy the back wheel for Carrera Subway?

What about the insurance will they pay me for a new wheel? It's E&L Insurance...

I recently moved to a tiny studio in Manhattan - and there is no place to keep my bike. It's been sitting on the fire escape, and yesterday i noticed rust marks on the chain. I have to bring it indoors but the only space I have is on the walls or the ceiling. A little apprehensive about experimenting - i'm sure someone out there has dealt with a similar situation...

I have a new bike that is mint. But I need to cut two inches off the seat tube in order to lower the saddle. The bike is just marginally too big for me. I have not cut aluminium (or anything) and would apprecaite any tips. I do not want to start the job without guidance as I might ruin the bike. What tools do I need? What technique should I use? What tips are there? Thanks

I've narrowed my bike search down to these two. I've ridden both. The Specialized is $120 more than the Trek. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

As a wise mechanic once said "WD40", "more WD40", "Blowtorch should do it" and finaly "i'll just clamp it in that and give the frame a good twist" about a minuite later the top part of the seat post shears off (damm aluminium) and the rest is left down inside the seat tube. Any ideas? (Frame is Steal and prost is aluminium)
