I live in a city where everyone rides a car. People will ride their car to go to the convenience store 2 or 3 blocks away. I like to ride what many think it’s crazy around here. I ride my bike few miles inside the city, and then tell people about it; everyone gives me this look as though I have issues or if I were crazy. People always go WHY? There’s not even public transportation where I live because everyone simply rides their own car. Sometimes I call friends who live a few miles away, and go to their places on my bike, I get there, they see I got there on my bike, and look at me as though I were on drugs or something. I know it’s uncommon in my city. People have called me stupid or dumb just I go to the Supermarket on my bike, and bring some of the groceries on it. They say I’m insane because I say I want to get in better shape, so I can ride all the way to the preppy mall on the other side of town.
But, why do people look at me as though I were crazy?

I have a membership to Golds but with school I find myself not being able to go as often. I'm looking into purchasing a stationary bike for home. I typically ride the upright at Golds. Is thier a difference in workout intensity? Which would you recommend =)

I'm currently living in Westwood and just wondering if anyone would recommend any particular bike shop in terms of mountain bikes for great services and good prices around my area. Anywhere around Santa Monica, Culver City, even Venice would be great as well.

I am doing some point to point cycling in the South East of England and Northern France later this year. There is some choice of route between the points, so any routes that show ups and downs in height will be really helpful.

The Terrible is one of the toughest double centuries California has to offer. It has temperatures of over 100 degrees, and over 15,000 feet of climbing, most after the first hundred miles. It starts at 5:30 am, and ends at 10:00 pm

Around November I promised that I would complete this ride.
Well, I've been getting good riding in, 70-100 hilly mile Saturdays, and commuting otherwise, and have been getting magnesium and calcium, but I know I am missing a lot.

My question is: How else can I prepare for this ride?

What are some good come backs to say to the percent of the population that thinks it's cute to say "What happened to the other half of your bike?!" or lame stuff like that.
I don't want to be offensive or hurtful or anything. Know what I mean?
Nothing like F-U. Thanks!!

Years ago, I had bicycles and rode regularly. My bicycle was stolen and I got busy with my career. Now I bought a new bicycle and it just seems that I'm having to air up the tires every time that I ride. It's a brand new bike! Brand new tires! It's apparently a slow leak, if that's the problem... but both tires?!? What are the odds? I started thinking there must be something wrong with the valve caps or how I'm airing it up.... Anybody got any ideas? Sorry, I know it sounds stupid but I'm just getting back into riding.
