"like somebody with oldtimer's disease, who doesn't remember what's good for them, I glance at my T-shirt."
I'm not sure about the meaning of "what's good for them", does the character mean that, what kind of dress suits him, or what else?

i have to write something about me on blog,if not that will dedcut my marks .can u help me correct any things in the following
This is my first time I write blog, so don’t blame me if I did grammatical or logical mistakes.
First, I will introduce my self I’m (……), I’m 22years old. I live in Milky Way galaxy exactly on planet called earth, accurately on Asia content in (M.country) and in (…) city.
I love studying science and math, so I’m studying engineering.
I hate studying arts or humanities subjects, so I think this subject is going to be tough.
My major goal this semester to wake up every morning but I don’t think so.
Why I chose (…) university?
I got scholarship to study in (…) university, so I don’t care about fees.
I’m very lazy to search for another university, so I’m here.
Because one heart beat faster then one second, so I should go to achieve the rest of my duties.
In the end I would like to thank our lecturer (Mr.) to give us this great opportunity to write blog so that everyone know others and share knowledge with them.
Bye……………………

I have noticed in newspapers and books I use for studying in a sentence or paragraph [ ] will be around certain words or sometimes just a letter at the start of the word. What is the point of these punctuation marks as whether they are there or not the sentence still makes sense.

...or is it basically made for people who arrive here from the usual countries. Realise something has to be done, but realise now there are some English bairns out there who believe they're 'sorted' if they can master mobile phone chat - and that only, with bastardised 'Jamaican/American' coming up on the inside lane.
Why couldn't the Indians kick out the British who swarmed their country from 1757 onwards because they didn't have any wishes to speak Hindi...I know - I'm sure some dear will tell me why (with puffed-up chest and Churchillian prose - and as this is Yahoo Answers, with personal sneers and the odd swearword), but we didn't think too much about other languages when we were swarming other countries with Bible in one hand (to those who surrendered immediately) and machete in the other...to those who didn't.

I notice that there are many identical answers to a lot of the translating questions in this category. Is there a particular reason for this? Are points so important? To quote from the community guidelines:

"NO POINT-GAMING: You may not post content for the explicit purpose of gaining points..."

If someone's answer would be the same as one already posted, wouldn't it better to just give that person a "thumbs up" and move on to another question? Just a thought.
