Are there "rules" about giving joint gifts? For example, is it okay for my husband and I to give one gift to my sister-in-law (or mother-in-law, brother, etc.), even though she usually gives gifts to both of us separately?

So my boyfriend doesn't want to exchange any Christmas presents with ANYONE this year, including me. He says that Christmas has become too commercialised, which I can definitely understand. And he also admitted that buying presents for girls makes him nervous that they won't like it. Anyway, I still would like to give him something (nice, not dirty...). Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of writing him a nice letter/card, making him some Christmas sweets... Any other ideas (we're trying to keep it clean, please :) )?

My family and I were puting up our Christmas decorations yesterday (the light up reindeers and the tree), and we noticed that the Santa was broken. If one light goes out, they all go out, and it'd take us hours to find out which one didn't work. So, we went to Sears to find some sort of light-up Santa for the yard, Surprisingly, they had just about everything else except Santa. We also went to Lighthouse and a store near us, and they didn't have one either (and Lighthouse usually has everything). Are people losing interest in Santa? Is Santa somehow offensive to some group or something?

In my family we only buy gifts for the children in our family. My husband's family, on the other hand, draws names for gifts so that everyone gets something. I have never participated (putting my name in) in the past with this other than drawing a child's name from his side of the family for my stepson. Well, this year they threw my name in without asking me and now they expect me to buy a gift for another adult. I just absolutely don't want to do it. I feel like Christmas is for the kids and should stay that way. How do I tell his family I want my name taken out without being rude? How do I keep my husband form getting mad at me about this? Should I have to participate in this when I don't buy gifts for my family?

I work at a nursing home and every year the employees pick a resident's door and decorate it for christmas. Last year I made a Christmas tree out of candy canes. What should I do this year?

i went shopping on Black Friday and was very dissapointed. the sales weren't even that great, seems like they cut back on registers and this year i had to stand in line for over an hour to purchase my things. Normally i finish all my shopping in this day, this year i didn't. anyone else think that Black Friday was crappy this year?

I see it with an "e" at the end all the time and I can only figure this has got to be the reason.

I am not insulting people who misspell, because I for sure am one of them. I am trying trying to see where this is coming from.
