I was in Grand Rapids, Michigan a couple weeks ago and was browsing the local paper during breakfast when I saw an ad that depicted Jesus spread out his arms in the side-mirror of a car. Upon further inspection I realized it was an ad for a drive-in church. Seriously.

What do you think would be the advantages of such a church? Don't you think it seems to encourage laziness and discourage community?

If all of a sudden, the US became a Muslim nation and told you to convert, pay extra taxes, or be executed- what would your reaction be? Would you convert? Pay the fee? What if nobody hired you for a job, or allowed you equal rights? What if you weren't allowed to marry unless you are Muslim?

What would your reaction be to the new legal limits placed upon your religion? What about the women- would you accept the local law and wear full headscarves- walk 10 feet behind your husband- stop working?

Note: this question is meant to pose the question- if suddenly your lifestyle was changed by an oppressive religious leader, how would you react to your loss of religious and personal freedom?

THis is not meant as an insult to Islam, nor am I teasing you Christians- I chose Islam thanks to the wonderous activities in the Middle East being displayed by the 3 Abrahamic religions.

No scripture please- I'm looking for opinions.

Even Islam doesn't get this much crap from people!

What about buddism? Isn't the main concept of Buddism to live your life free of any desire or material things? And yet so many celebrities, like Harrison Ford, are buddists.....you really think those celebrities are living a humble and meager lifestyle? Every religion has so many contradictions, every religion may seem stupid to someone else, but Christianity gets attacked most often? I am proud to call myself a Christian, I don't bother anyone with my beliefs, I live my life in a free country, don't force my understandings onto anybody and yet people can get so offensive....it's like people look for reasons to attack another group simply because they don't share similar views....I actually don't think its even about God or religion, it's the human nature of trying to prove to someone that "I am right and you are wrong!".

I'm an american. I'm also a teenager. What images does that evoke? Do people see us as potheads, political activists, disloyal to our president, obsessed with being skinny, emo, what?

It's most effective if you are not from the US and answer, as I think I know how we perceive ourselves.

I live in LA and am wondering what the general relationship is between the Latino and Asian communities. I know that it mostly sucks between the Black and Asian communities...actually, I guess Blacks have a hard time with any other racial group, Latinos and Whites included. Just wondering how the Asians and Latino communities get along with one another. Any ideas? I know it varies (of course), but in general, do Asians and Latinos mostly have a good relationships with one another?

Does that phrase seem offensive to you? I am Faithful follower of Jesus, but when I heard this for the first time the other day, I couldn't help laughing and laughing. The church really was over the top. It seems that money could've been better spent on their missionary work or something.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. (1:2a) People who unreasonably claim that verse 1 describes a 24-hour creation of heaven (which they describe as God’s home thus built in 24 hours--Where did He live before that?) and the Earth as hereafter described, miss the point of this Scripture. For an untold eons of years after the beginning referenced in verse 1 and prior to its being made habitable, the Earth simply existed even as do all the other planets in the universe. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (1:2b) This Scripture gives a body of sorts to Jehovah, although we must not fool ourselves into believing that he can be contained by the universe. He did after all invent the universe by whatever means He chose to do so. The “Spirit of God” could not therefore be the Person of Jehovah God, but merely a force that He is able to use to effect anything He chooses to.

My husband and I are going through a divorce and we have shared placement and joint custody right now.
I signed my daughter up for religious ed so she can make her First Communion. I told her dad I was doing this and he was not happy about where I signed her up.
Today I found out through my older daughter that her dad signed them up for religious ed at a different church closer to him.
He told her it was MY fault I signed them up at a different church.

So my question is,can a child have 2 First Communions in one year?

Also,do you think I should back down and just let him take them to religious ed? I have always been the primary caregiver for our children so this is a difficult decision for me.

Thanks in advance.

Isn't the supposition of creationism outside of the scope of science?

in Genesis, and doesn't this story just sound mythological?

I mean, the people wanted to build a tower to heaven? What kind of rationale did these people have? Obviously not much.

And the whole thing about God making them speak different languages...yeah it would answer why we all speak differently and are located differently, but couldn't he have just knocked the tower down and put some fear into them?

I dunno, the whole story just seem mythological....as do a lot of the stories I read in the Bible.

Sincerly,

trying to hold onto my faith.

My question is on what the Prez of Iran said.
They have no gays in Iran..I took that as meaning he does not have any Public outward demonstations of people saying we are practicing homosexual muslims.

Sin is Sin so people of all cultures and religions can be filled with feelings of homosexuality, infidelity, all types of sexual deviancy's that are not blessed in the Bible.

My question is do you think people who practice Islam would be practicing homosexuals if they could? or do you think they just have more of a discipline to Islam and would not even consider the idea?

For instance, a person accepts Jesus as the payment for their sins. they believe in him now, but still have chosen to keep stealing things. They live a lifestyle of stealing. Will God let that person into heaven even though they did not truly repent of their sins?
