What if you like some things about Catholicism but think it is silly to believe in a heaven up in the sky w/ harps and angels floating around, or the devil, etc. Are you ostracized or do you have to pretend like you believe this.

I understand she should not use birth control,but what if she is infertile. Is it her duty to adopt children or can she (with equal enthusiam) have a career. I know many women do both but what does the Church feel about this.

I'm not bashing any religion at all, just the extremely flawed logic of a few individuals, mainly in response to a recently asked question.

I just answered a question about why atheism isn't logical. The general basis of the accusation was that it didn't explain enough. Because apparently humans are supposed to know everything ever and it is dislogic that we don't know everything. Do people who make this point not see the fallacy of its very root?

I know I don't know everything and that doesn't bother me at all, not even a little. The "logic" in the question that made Christianity the superior theory was because it had explanations. Which again is terrible thinking. Greeks also thought that Neptune controlled tides and squalls et cetera, so obviously they were right because it explained it? Maybe there are no electrons and lightning is Jupiter being angry? I want to say again, I don't know everything and don't care. Everything that provides explanations isn't correct. just 'cuz.

If Isa means the 'Word of God' in Islam how come there are no teachings of his in the Quran? As name suggests he IS the word of God so shouldn't have someone from Muslim world go around with him to record what he has to say?

I say this half jokingly because I just moved into a dormitory in college, and my RA is Jewish.
I am a huge opera fan & I was playing some Richard Wagner (not loud or anything) & she came by my room & said this:

"Why are you playing that? You of all people should know better because of what our people went through."

a) I'm not Jewish at all (though I have nothing against them). I'm a mutt with grandparents from Norway, Greece and Wales.

b) Even if I was, what does it matter? Richard Wagner died before Hitler was even born (I'm pretty sure about that).


By the way, I didn't answer her. But I find it a little obnoxious to assume I am Jewish just because of my name or my "look" (the only 2 things she could have gone by).

Do you think she "assumed" because of my name (I guess my last name could be Jewish or not)? Does anyone Jewish out there go by someone's name like that? I think that's a little presumptuous because some people may have step parents, or be adopted.

About five minuted down the road from me a store of patrons 18 and over selling items expressly for adults is opening. It is not an eyesore, it is very upscale looking and blends into the mall district without sticking out (it is a former furniture store so it is a large store). Would this bother you and would you protest it's opening?

Someone replied to one of my other questions that "God doesn't have the time to deal with you." Now, I thought everyone was of the opinion that God exists outside of time and time has no meaning to him. If he wanted to, he could do as many things as he wanted in the next second without even blinking.

Was this person truly an idiot for saying God did not have time to take out of his busy schedule since he exists beyond time and time has no power over him?

I'm sick and tired of seeing people trash other people for their outward appearance or things they like. I mean if we all looked the same that would be super boring and bland. Why do people out there feel they have to mean because the other person dont look like they do or like what they like?! I honestly dont care if someone dislikes me because I have plenty that do like admire and respect me. *thank you blessed internet where people can be more free to be themselves and providing like minds the ability to meet up and be friends!* I just wish people werent such jerks to people who already feel down on theirselves and feel hideous or embarrassed. For many years I felt like a monster because of what a handful of people had to say about me. The people that did like me hid it because others would make fun of them. I say live and let live! Like what you like and dont fear it! be strong and stand up for yourself and quit dogging others for what they like. Its all rather childish so grow up!
