Does your church actually teach you or encourage to read your bible?

Yes, it is a serious question and don't get upset for me asking this question or for what I post. I don't condone drunk driving.

Years ago I was at the FOP "Fraternal Order of Police" with a good friend who is an officer. Anyways, the chief was paying for the drinks and since I had ridden over in my friend’s cruiser I didn't think about how much I had to drink and I was going to crash at his house and get my car from the station the next morning.

Well for some reason or another we ended up at the station to get my car. I wasn't fallen down drunk but I did have too much to be driving. Well my friend said he would follow me to his house in his cruiser so I didn't have to worry about being pulled over. In that short 5 mile trip I thought I did rather well but was told after we got to his house I was all over my lane and he thought 2 times I was going to hit another car and he would have stopped me.

Never did it again but that is my one time I did.

If you know that the relationship you're in this moment was a result of God's will... and you're both sure in that, since it has helped both of you spiritually grow alot in eachother and in Christ... do you think God would break you two apart afterward? Do you think God would make two people learn about true love with one another for a whole year, and then break them apart some time in the future? I know for a fact that if God intends me to actually meet and marry someone else in the future, He would be depriving that future husband a huge chunk of my heart that would be left with my Christian boyfriend right now... if that indeed is what God does... Any thoughts?

First of all, just stop the criminal from crime-ing. Help them straighten up, if you think you can, or lock him away. Jail should be a good place. It would make us better people if we treated inmates well. Don't kill them either, it even costs more to do that than to lock them away for life. Besides, isn't punishment up to God anyway? (giggle)

1. I understand that I can't get to Heaven by good works because, in comparison to God's infinite goodness, I'll always be a sinner. Only Jesus was perfect. Further, he made the ultimate sacrifice. Fine, so Jesus gets to go to Heaven. But what does Jesus's perfection and sacrifice have to do with me? If I'm not good enough to get into Heaven, what difference does it make that Jesus was perfect? How does that make me any more worthy to get into Heaven? I just don't see the connection. (Tiger Woods is a great golfer, but, even if I worship him for it, the fact of his greatness doesn't improve my game any.)

2. How is Christianity a monotheistic religion? I'm honestly confused about this. God is divine, and Jesus is divine. That's two things I'm supposed to worship, isn't it?

"...In God we trust..." "...One nation under god..." "B.C. (Before Christ)..." "A.D. (Anno Domini; The Year of our Lord)..."

**** you, Fascist Christians. I am not Christian, and I will never be Christian, no matter how much you try to make the U.S. an all-Christian country. Jesus can lick my clitoris for all I care. This country was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION, not CHRISTIANITY. Get your history straight, and then go **** yourselves.

If the bible is the literal word of god, why wouldn't he make it read better?
I mean I'm pretty sure we can agree that there are plenty of books out there that are better written. And I very much doubt that any sensible literary critic would rate the quality of writting in the bible, as the greatest ever.
William Shakespeare's a better writter, as are T.S Elliot, Edgar Allen Poe, Leo Tolstoy, and Fyodor Dostoevsky to name a few. Why would god write a book that by any literary deffinition is second rate?

If non-Morman Christians are somewhat offended by the Mormon belief in a more recent Jesus chapter on earth (in N. America), why shouldn't Jews be somewhat offended by the Christian belief that the messiah has already come? Both involve an additional chapter of holy claims and text. Thanks. =)

This is not meant to be offensive, just an honest question, mainly for atheists or theists that have an objective answer.

I'm an atheist and don't necesarily agree that not believing is a belief, but don't really care if theists think it is, because it doesn't make anyone's story more plausible. I don't believe that the fantasy novel I just finish was true whatsoever, I guess you could call it a belief but does that make any difference? It is still a story.

So fine, I don't believe in anyone's god or gods, as far as I can see they were all built on holes in human knowledge and fear. You can find a point in time when almost any god or religion materialized, and you can find points in time where peices of his/her religion were disproved, but that religion still exists. So as far as I can see, as we learn more religion becomes less useful, effectively showing that at its roots it is just there to explain the unknown. So why does my nonbelief being a belief make it less credible?

I have lived in England for a year, and I can plainly say, I love it. I feel that Americans need to adopt British humor, as many do not seem to understand it whatsoever. (In fact, when this nation is characterized by a pathetically "funny" show such as Friends, it's saying something.) ( On the contrary, has anyone seen Fawlty Towers?...Exactly.)

I was nonchalantly perusing the "sarcasm" thread and I read a post regarding the similarities between American sarcasm and commonplace British humor. However this poster insinuated that sarcasm and British humor are indeed "offensive" or "crude."

How is this true? British humor derives from instantaneous thinking. In fact, this form of comedy requires a quick mind in order to respond to the individual. There is no "pre-planning" or anything that can be characterized as "crude." It requires a deal of intelligence on the individual's behalf. Only seemingly quick people can even handle it.

All in all, British humor is hilarious

It seems the radicals wan't to kill anyone who hurts the cause of Islam,, Osama has done more to make the rest of the world HATE Islam than anyone on the planet.
Before him most people were fine with the muslim religion, now it is synonomus with 911, car bombings, and terror, why don't they direct their hate to the one who has caused the rest of the world to hate and fear Islam,,
Osama Bin Laden?

Are the prisoners on death row not alive? It's yet another example of the Republiconartists' hypocrisy. They say that we have no right to take another person's life, that only "god" can do that, but only when it comes to abortion. When it comes to the death penalty, **** yeah! We can kill people, because we're the Almighty U.S.A. They hate America and deserve to die!

Once again, flawed logic on behalf of the Neocons.
