One of the great anti-atheist believers on Y!A posted this sentence in answer to a question some 10 hours ago:

There are websites ans cults (myspace.com/gaygod) they are promoting homosexuality, and brainwashing hundreds of thousands of teens to practice this lifestyle.

I want to make banners and buttons thats homosexuality is wrong, and say no to gay marriage and such.

The Christian Fundamentalists seem to always answer questions as if we were attacking them. Responses are pretty much "you wont make me lose my faith" Can you guys try to answer instead of JUDGING the questioner and feeling threatened by the question? Thanks

In the beginning, God told Adam to go nuts and eat all the fruit except the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden. He said "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die."

So then fast forward, Eve was created and she's hanging out by the tree, talking to the serpent (Satan) and Satan says: "You will not die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

So what happened? They ate the fruit and died? NO. The Bible says they ate the fruit and suddenly their eyes were opened, they knew that they were naked, they knew good and evil that was previously hidden from them and they lived on for hundreds of years.

But how was Satan wrong and God proven true? Wasn't it the other way around? Satan wins this one in my book.

I've seen it a few times here, but it seems very odd to me. Is God permitting, or even instructing, Satan to do bad things in the world? If so, what's the reason?

I worded the question the way I did because any longtimers at R&S will know that I don't believe (and newcomers might understand it from my avatar), but that doesn't mean I don't want to understand Christian theology and its effects on morality.

The whole issue of Satan confuses me in many ways actually, but this is as good a place to start as any.

Don't worry - despite what some people imply, I addressed the question to Christians, so I _will_ choose the Christian who explains the theology most cogently.

If this is the beginning of World War III, why haven't modern Isrealites accepted Jesus as the Son of God. It seems as though only the "Gentiles" have done this yet the Bible states that Jesus was the King of the Jews and the Jews are the chosen people to go to heaven. Any advice would be appreciated because I have pondered this idea for many years . . .

Back in 1978 Jim Jones was the leader of a group known as “The People’s Temple" that was founded in the USA but eventually moved to Northern Guyana. The group settled in a jungle and called their communal village "Jonestown". As a result of a investigation conducted by USA authorities, Jones lead their followers to a mass suicide. Official reports said that 913 of the 1100 people at “Jonestown” at the time were murdered or committed mass suicide, 276 of them were children. It's has been report that Jones shot himself.
