Hello,
I am given the formula c^2=a^2+b^2-2ab. The text shows this is how you set it up... cosC=965^2+876^2-1240^2/
2(965)(876).
The answer according to the solution
manual is .09522855.
When I do the math I get -64989569339

What am I doing wrong? How do I get the
answer the book has from the numbers
and formula given?

Thanks for your help.

This teacher is horrible and I've already missed 2 assignments she's given out because she's so wishywashy when she tells us what the homework is. im an A student. 2 people have told me we have only 1 worksheet, but i could swear she assigned 2. What should I do? I don't want to risk missing another assignment.

Ok so when I have the problem
10+5z-10=4z+1
+-4z +-4z
10+1z-10=1
ok so now according to the additive inverse I should add a positive 10 to both sides since the 10 is negative which would give me
20+1z=1
which is the wrong answer. So can someone explain to me what I am exactly supposed to do when I get to that point?

Ok I have the problem
10+5z-10=4z+1
+-4 +-4
10+1z-10=1
+-10 +-10
1z=1
1 1
z=1
Ok now I do the same kind of problem the same way using the additive inverse and look what I get
14+7x=4x-1
+-4x+-4x
14+3x=-1
+-1 +-1
13 3x
Now what did I do wrong with this problem?

I am very confused on this why dont you do these problems the same way?

3a-6=a+4
3a-6+6=a+4+6
3a=a+10
3a-a=a+10-a
2a=10
2 2
a=5
7x-14=9x-6
7x-14-9x=9x-6-9x
-2x-14=-6
-2x-14+14=-6+14
-2x=8
-2 -2
x=-4
ok, notice how you add first in the first example and then subtract. Now notice how you subtract first and then add in the second example.
Now if I follow the way they did it in the second example for this problem
2x+7=6x-1
I get the wrong answer
2x+7=6x-1
8x+7=-1
-7 -7
8x=-8

Now if I use the second example I get
2x+7=6x-1
-4x+7=-1
+7 +7
-4x 6
Notice again I get the wrong answer. So can someone please explain to me how do you decide when to add and when to subtract or can someone tell me where I go wrong tih these problems because they are honestly making no sense to me at all.

Three men book a hotel room for $30. The hotel told the bellboy to give them $5 back because it only costed $25. He took $5 to give them but couldn't split $5 three ways so he gave them one dollar each and kept 2 for himself.
So he gave them $3 back which means they paid $27, he kept the $2 which makes $29, so what happened to the other dollar?
