I need to solve for x. Here's the problem:

((4)/(x-3)) = ((3)/(x-4))+(1/2)

I keep coming up with x squared minus 9x + 26 = 0. From there, I've applied the quadratic formula and keep ending up with the square root of a negative number, which is obviously impossible. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks a million!

1.) The measure of an angle's supplement is 44 less than the measure of the angle. Find the angle and its supplement?

I came up with 44x=180 but I think its wrong?

2,) L and M are complementary angles. N and P are complementary angles. If the measure of L = y-2, the measure of M= 2x+3, the measure of N=2x-y and the measure of P =x-1 find the values of x,y and the measures of L,M,N,and P.

Im not sure how to do this one but my first thought would be to put all the equations together like y-2+2x+3+2x-y+x-1 then mybe add like terms. Am I correct, if not please help. Thanks

Given: angle 4. is an exterior angle of the triangle
Prove: angle 4 = measure of angle 1 plus the measure of angle 2.

Two column proof:
Statement 1 says angle 4 is an exterior angle of the triangle. Reason 1 says “given”.
Statement 2 says the measures of angles 1, 2 and 3 added together equal 180 degrees.
Reason 2 says ?
Statement 3 says angles 3 and 4 are a linear pair.”
Reason 3 says?
Statement 4 says angles 3 and 4 are supplementary angles.
Reason 4 says “If two angles form a linear pair, then they are supplementary.”
Statement 5 says measure of angle 3 plus the measure of angle 4 equals 180 degrees.
Reason 5 says ?
Statement 6 says the sum of angles 1, 2 and 3 equal the sum of angle 3 and 4.”
Reason 6 says?
Statement 7 says measure of angles 1 and 2 equal the measure of angle 4
Reason 7?
