You Don't have to answer all of these questions, but please answer in full.

1. I know that if you were to add a (-) to an element it means there is one extra electron
ie: Cl- P+ 17 e- 18 n0 14
(correct me if I'm wrong and say why)

Now what I am confused about is what do you do if it is Cl+? How wuld you determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electons? Why? I need as much information as I can get for this!!!

Im Not a terrorist and dont intend on using the nitrate for a bomb but I intend on using it as a propellant. Dont lecture me on the laws I know trust me. Does anyone know how to purify it. I know you can purify KNO3 by recrystalization. The source i have is ammonium nitrate fertilizer which is 30-0-0. I know it burns because i sloshed some on the fire and it made it flare up. But someone please help!
