Is it because oxygen is a diatomic molecule? If so, nitrogen is also diatomic, so why isn't it 1.5 atoms of Nitrogen?

Then it says one mole of C7H5N3O6 has 3 atoms of Nitrogen and 6 atoms of Oxygen. So when considering a mole of something, u count the atoms differently than if they are considered a molecule?

40 ml 3% H2O2 = 3.0% H2O2
20 ml 3% H2O2 + 20 ml distilled water = 1.5% H2O2
10 ml 3% H2O2 + 30 ml distilled water = 0.75% H2O2
5 ml 3% H2O2 + 35 ml distilled water = 0.38% H2O2
40 ml distilled water = 0.0% H2O2

someone tell me how did they come up with 1.5%, 0.75% and 0.38%...i mean how to calculate this?thanks.

I've already got the idea on this experiment but I wanted to have a certain unique information about it.. I wanted to impress my professor in my first formal report in Organic Chemistry.. Well, our experiments are basic because we are not Chemistry majors..

Thanks!

I am 11th student.I have a doubt about the experiment which show osmosis in plants. I read that mouth of an inverted thistle funnel is covered with a semi permiable membrane and the funnel is then filled with concentrated solution and dipped in a beaker containing pure solvent. As by the principle osmosis the pure solvent will enter into the funnel through semi permiable membrane and the level of solution inside funnel rises up.This what the experiment shows but I doubts that IT IS DUE TO THE ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE acting on the surface of pure solvent, b'coz when we dip a straw in water the level of water rises inside the straw. By the same way why should the same thing to be happend here??

please reply me immediatly to get rid of this doubt

Hello,

after I asked the question does liquid hydrogen flow uphill, my friend Chris Mitchell told me it was really liquid HELIUM that flows uphill.

Is this really true? or is he talking a load of **** again?
