Explain how a correctly written equation shows atoms are not lost in a reaction and this is not for school or class this is a question my friend has been asking me with so people shove off with the class jokes.

Can anyone help with this - not sure if I'm doing it right! OK I need to give the 6 equations for the synthesis of hexamminenickel chloride and have been given the first and last ones. The first equation is
[Ni(H2O)6]2+ + NH3 <===> [Ni(H2O)5 NH3]2+ + H2O
(The arrow ment to be equilibrium arrow)

and the overall equation is;

[Ni(H2O)6]2+ + 6NH3 <===> [Ni(H2O)5 NH3]2+ + 6H2O

Am I right in thinking that each step would simply be as the first but with each step having one more molecule of NH3 and H2O each time e.g. step 2;

[Ni(H2O)6]2+ + 2NH3 <===> [Ni(H2O)5 NH3]2+ + 2H2O

and step 3;

[Ni(H2O)6]2+ + 3NH3 <===> [Ni(H2O)5 NH3]2+ + 3H2O

etc...

or am I doing it totally wrong! Any help would be very much appreciated as nothing in my textbook about it and it is for a lab tomorrow!!!

Are chemical bonds the same as molecular bonds. I have a true false question about a reaction that I know is a "molecular bond" but the answer uses "chemical bonds". Are they the same?

2(CH2OH)2 (l) + 5 O2 (g) > 4 CO2 (g) + 6 H2O (l)

The standered heat of combustion for ethylene glycol is -2356 KJ/mol.
CO2 (g) = -393.5 KJ/mol
H20 (l) = - 285.58 KJ/mol

Hi,

Not quite sure how to do this question:

(i) In 2000, the mass of CO2 emitted in the UK was equivalent to 1kg per person in every hour.

Calculate the volume of 1kg of CO2. Assume that 1 mole of CO2 occupies 24dm3.

Thanks,

Carbon dioxide can be prepared easily in the laboratory by the action of heat on most carbonates. Construct an equation to illustrate this reaction.
