I found a very interesting excerpt on the web about Al Franken's debate with Ann Coulter. His reflections and speech are remarkable. I just don't get why people are willing to even listen to Ann Coulter. She makes America look extremely bad. I posted Al Franken's reflections at the link below. Thanks. http://www.talkshowonmute.com/blog.html

I hear people over and over again making a distinction between pro-choice and pro-abortion. But is it a distinction without a difference?

The use of the word "choice" is a euphemism to conceal the fact that they are only concerned with one choice in particular. They aren't concerned with the range of other choices like adoption. In fact, they frequently block legislation intended to make adoption easier. So are they really pro-choice when they want to foreclose the choice of adoption while making their favored "choice" easier? Doesn't sound all that pro-choice anymore does it?

And just like they use the word "choice" to conceal what it is they want people to choose, they seem to think that in any given scenario, every possible choice should be available, no matter how unethical.

This "outrage" over the popes quoting of an Islamic historical figure is interesting to me. Most of the worlds biggest problems are radical extremists of Islam. Where is the outrage of the Islamic people against those who behead their opponents and eagerly kill innocent people just because they are of another faith. When is the world going to tell the Islamist to shape up and take care of their own back yard and stop worrying about everyone else for a change?

why does the government prohibit murder? If not a moral basis, then on what other basis does the government punish citizens who commit murder?

You could say the same for other things too: kidnapping, rape, theft, etc.

If these prohibitions are not grounded in morality, then what?

The Pope on Tuesday repeated criticism of the Prophet Mohammad by the 14th century Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus, who said everything Mohammad brought was evil "such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
The Pope, who used the terms "jihad" and "holy war" in his lecture, added "violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul."
Muslims deplore Pope speech.what s your idea?

learning how to grow a fetus outside of a woman? Then, they can get rid of abortion, and they will have 25% more babies to adopt? Seems like it would get more done to solve the problem, then , say, firebombing clinics?

Whoever told all these actors and actresses that their opinions on the world were meaningful and that the public wanted to hear them??? I understand if the subject is acting; that would make sense. But whoever thought that sean penn, susan sarandon, george clooney, or any of them have valuable thoughts on politics and foreign policy? Sure, they can educate themselves like any of us can but do any of them have a formal degree in these subjects they spout? Maybe a Masters in Political Science w/ some years worth of experience in the field? I mean I would consider THAT person's pov as speaking from a base of knowledge at least. So why do they continue to spew their nonsense and why do we, the public, encourage it by watching them do it???

If peace is to be achieved we must be at peace .Arming for a battle that will never happen only leaves billions hungry and dieing around the world .I would trade the lives of a few people lost to terrorism in the short term to achieve peace .This means we attempt to find those responcible and do not blame a nation but rather make the world less hungry and treat the sick before we spend another dollar on making war .We lost 3000 people in the attack on 9-11 and since that day spent over a trillion dollars on war . HAd we just worked to help the world and aired how we are helping people world wide on the news i believe a trend would begin towards peace .
Millions of lives saved verses a huge military to continue to wage war makes little sense .IF we can not controlI Iraq what makes you think they could come here and take over .I am ashamed we can not see past this war and begin an era of peace through real helping around the world .Then we can ask everyone we help to turn in radicals.
