I hear the term bleeding heart liberal and I am so dismayed. Is it not caring about eachother that is supposed to put us above the animals? The defanition of liberal is generous. Since when did generous become a bad thing?

In interviews President Bush claims to have read 60 books this year, including "three Shakespeares."

Bush continues to claim Afhganistan as a success -- another mission accomplished. He also claims a turning point in Iraq with adapting strategy.

Unfortunately he hasn't been reading Pentagon reports or newspapers. "Iraqi parliament voted to extend a state of emergency for a month because of unrelenting sectarian violence, while the Iraqi president predicted bloodshed will be quelled by the end of next year." (from the Washington Post item)

News items reveal that opium poppy cultivation has doubled in Adghanistan and is the cash crop; Warlords and and Taliban are becoming the true power in Afghanistan as Karsi as seen as the mayor of Kabel, indecisive and corrupt.

Hi all, i m a concerned citizen of the world who finds this constant attack by bush on Islam and the proliferation of movies that equate islam to terrorism.Call me a pessimist but im honestly worried about a possible thirld world war only worsened by the fact that it would along the lines of religion thus threatening to tear nations even families apart.I hope bush really loses the elections this time.I don't think he can keep holding the threat of terrorism over the heads of americans and emotinalliy black mailing them to vote for him when in fact he is the one that we should all beware of

What I mean is that year after year the party becomes less and less Conservative and closer and closer to the Democratic party. Why are there no good Conservative candidates anymore to support constitutional, fiscal and personal responsibility on a national level?
I opine that until a strong third party (Liberatarian? Something?) comes into play the parties will become closer and closer together "muddying the waters" so that the fight over the undecided vote becomes the battleground.

Right now the only issues really seperating the parties are not really constitutional issues at all: Abortion, Gun Control, Welfare, Social Security, Crime/Law Enforcement, Death Penalty, Taxes/Public Allocation.

Notice that all these issues are ones that were added into the mix well AFTER the Consitution itself was written. I find it hard to believe that the founding fathers could have been so short sighted by the "modern" view of government.

If you look on this site you can't but get this impression. Even if half of them are kids... I feel an "ordinary" person would be embarassed to spout all that vicious or just inane drivel. What are your views?

EVER SINGLE MONTH a story comes out about islamics trying to blow soemthing else up. EVERY MONTH, whether it is in europe, USA, or canada. Yet no one wants to step up and see the problem isn't just Islam but Islamic Facism. Islam is a violent religion and I have read the Quran IN CONTEXT, it CLEARLY says to kill infidels.

It is dumb how people always bring up the crusades and holocaust to me, they assume I'm a christian, even though I'm not. Also, why are these people defending their actions by bringing up evil things christians did 1,000 years ago??? Cowards.

Hillary Clinton has been consistantly pro-war. She has supported Bush's wars even stonger than Bush has. In additon she favors bringing back the draft. How can you settle for this? Do you honestly believe you will have an influence in changing her mind? There were a lot of republicans who sincerely believed that Bush would get America out of the Balkans. They were wrong. What makes you think you will do better? If you don't believe you will turn her into a pro-peace politician but are willing to vote for her anyways, why sell out?

I guess the President refers to Bin Laden as a Hitler. What about the changes brought about in this country since 911? We centralized the CIA, FBI and the NSA which could in turn make it easier for Politicians to corrupt the government. In the name of homeland security they made FEMA weak. In the wrong hands our current system could in theory create a much worse senario. Now they are attacking the basics of our constitution. In the future will we have the right to question our authority?

You will see it time and time again during debates or arguments - they never can argue points - the GOP garners votes by evoking fear out of voters.

That doesn't sound fair. It's as though the GOP threatens more terrorist attacks on America unless they get their way.

That doesn't seem right.

The market based "cap and trade" method (just signed into law by the Republican governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a method that rewards innovation and has been proven effective when used to reduce other pollutants (like sulfur dioxide).

Is there a better way to address the problem? Will the California method work without participation from other states? How should personal carbon production (cars) be addressed?

And the hatred of religous freedom if your not giving money to Xtianity.

Is there a cure for these morbid problems?

As I understand it, the conservative argument for invading Iraq said basically that because there was some chance Sadaam had, or would get, weapons that might seriously hurt us, doing nothing was not an option. We had to take action.

In response to global warming, their argument seems to be be that while there is some chance it might seriously hurt us, doing nothing is our only option. We must not take action until something horrible actually happens.

Does this make sense to anyone?
