In the US, Arabs/Muslims are terrorosts, liberals have bleeding hearts and are mindless tree-huggers. Homosexuals will burn in Hell, Mexicans are scurvy little monsters. The Bush administration is fighting the noble cause of freedom; Bush, himself is a superhero. Anyone who believes that Arabs or Muslims have any legitimate grievances are terrorists, themselves. Anyone who speaks out against the Bush administration is seditious. Oh, yes, about abortion, these women should give birth to these unwanted children who will remain in the system unloved and uncared for.

If you answered "yes" to these questions, I challenge you to a proposition.

Most/all of you Bush haters hope that the Dems will take over either the House or the Senate or both after the 2006 elections. I am sitting here today on August 31, 2006 telling you it will NOT happen. Neither one. In fact, I think the Republicans will pick up a Senate seat, although they will lose 2 - 3 House seats.

So, I am proposing the following. Tell me why you think the Dems will take over the House or the Senate or both. The BEST reasoned, thought out answer will get the points.

Now, for the money (and I don't think this is a violation of Yahoo Answer guidelines. If the Dems take over either the House or the Senate, I will donate $100 to the charity of YOUR choice. If they take over both, I will donate $200. So, state the name of your charity and it must be a legitimate US based charity.

If I win, you pledge the same donation to the Pediatric Aids Foundation. http://www.pedaids.org/

One of the standard neo-con replies to criticism of President Bush is that you should move to a country where you like the leadership. Wonder where they all moved to during the Clinton Administration?

Abraham Lincoln stated, “I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me, and causes me to tremble for the safety of our country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people, until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the republic is destroyed.”

The small, but ruthless, group of men, the “money power” described by Lincoln, has stolen democracy from the American people. An ever-growing number of informed Americans, however, are fighting a brave, but desperate rear-guard action to retrieve that democracy. Will we give them our total support now, or simply sit back and watch as the entire planet is taken back to the dark ages? “The only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.”

I wonder what actually IS the political philsophy of today? Is there any idealism left? The Power of Nightmares, a BBC documentary, has some interesting points on this. It surmises that since the liberal dream collapsed, politicians can no longer supply us with idealised dreams of the future. To an extent their role collapsed. So they found a new role - to provide us with nightmares of what might happen. It talks about the political philosophy of Leo Strauss, who influenced the Neo-Cons (the right), and compares this to the philosophy of the Islamists. Rather freakily, their philsophies are similar - the world is divided into good and evil. Both the Americans and the Islamists regard themselves as the good; and they must stamp out evil - each other.

You can watch the power of nightmares on Google Video:

How about establishing a travel allowance?
Reimbusing taxpayers at the cost of first class air fare is a drop in the bucket considering the $57,000-an-hour cost of flying Air Force One (old jet fuel costs) and does not cover the cargo planes that shuttle the president's limousines and helicopters to every event, or travel expenses of White House advance workers who lay the groundwork for the trips.

And these presidential travel abuses are no better than the Congress' use of lobbyists private jets for travel in exchange for access or for favorable legislation.

Bush says he is 'fighting for peace' . just think about that.
He says we have never attacked anyone.
He also quotes the parents of some young soldier who escaped death only to return to Iraq and then gets bombed by the roadside. He commends the young soldier for giving up his life for world peace.
Unbelievable...
