The United States has threatened swift action on sanctions after Aug. 31 if Iran does not heed the UN demand. But Russia and China, both major trading partners with Iran, have been unwilling to impose sanctions and could frustrate such a move in the Security Council. In the first seven months of 2006, Chinese trade with Iran reached $7.9 billion, a jump of 43.9 percent on the same period last year, driven by rising Iranian oil exports, according to Chinese Customs statistics.

Russia singed a billion dollar contract Dec 05 to ugrade the Iranian militrary - will the US have to back down or face China and Russia?

There's an expression which goes, " People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people" Do u think thats true? Can a wholenation rise up to its government and make them heard? Or is a government more powerful and its artillery more than enough to crush its whole population?

I really would like to know if a party with the following description exist:

1. Economically very liberal (more taxes on the rich and less taxes on the poor).
2. Free post secondary education for all (college).
3. Extreme work on trying to advance all people below the poverty line by giving them extra training or whatever else help they need to achieve a better life.
4. Free health care.
5. Religious (in all its ways).
6. Uses war as a last option (good foreign policy so that everyone likes us).

I know the religious part is a turn off to alot of people, but I am not asking for opinions, I am asking wether or not it exists.

Thank you for your help (I have been reading online for a while but to no avail), take care, and remember to please be polite.

Check out the amazing "welcome" speech the mayor of Salt Lake City gave for W today. It wasn't covered by CNN. I think big brother Bush will make sure Rocky has an accident soon, what do you think?

Let’s impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
He’s the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
And bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war
Let’s impeach the president for spying
On citizens inside their own homes
Breaking every law in the country
By tapping our computers and telephones
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our government’s protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
Let’s impeach the president
For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected
Dividing our country into colors
And still leaving black (and poor) people neglected
Thank god he’s racking down on steroids
Since he sold his old baseball team
There’s lot of people looking at big trouble
But of course the President is clean.
THANK GOD

yes, i know hes canadian. and i also know he gives a bigger d.a.m.n than a lot of americans do.

and as far as helping the poor, he's done more than most. he's libertarian, if you knew anything about that, you'd know the reply to your comment. try doing more charity, then maybe you'd get the same respect he does by millions.

U.S. President George W. Bush called for "consequences to Iran's defiance," saying the "world now faces a grave threat from the radical regime in Iran."

"We must not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon," Bush said in a speech in Salt Lake City. He said Washington hoped for a diplomatic solution, but insisted "it is time for Iran to make a choice" whether to co-operate with the United Nations.

What does George mean by that ? Nuking Iran , sanctions?

Most of the conservatives on here are "parrotting" bush, coulter, o'reilly, limburger, and hannity's statements that liberals are soft on terror and are not worried about our country. So why did bush try to sell our security to Arab leaders who had ties with terrorist groups? Isn't HE suppose to be so tough with terrorism? Seems he didn't have a clue. Go ahead and make stupid statements or name-call if you want, it only makes you look stupid because you can't answer the question...

His family goes into business with the Bin Ladens. His daddy helps arm, train Bin Laden and Iran. He tries to hand over our ports to country's linked to terrorism. Now he wants to open up our borders and hand over most of America's import export over to Mexico according to conservatives http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=14965

He drank more booze then Dean Martin, did more cocain then Robert Downey Jr. Tells people to "put food on their family". Tells people that "humans and fish can co-exist". He stutters like some crack head.

And just when you thought the stupidity was done check this idiot out http://www.cutepiggy.com/george_w_bush.html

If this guy isn't the perfect poster boy for birth control I don't know what is. So is it official? Is Bush the biggest moron of all time?

I guess I was pretty ignorant of facts when I was younger, but it seems like alot of people who have strong political views don't know diddly squat about nothing and only repeat rhetoric that they have been fed by thier college professor, or by the boob tube. People should start thinking for themselves and ask questions that really try to get down to the facts, not just the same old rhetoric. I have yet to argue any political views, because none of the questions got any facts straight, so I end up just telling them the facts. There are lots of good questions to ask, but the good ones are rare.

People who think like that are the only reason they could EVER win. I am hearing people talk like that more and more and it needs to stop. Live not in fear, live in caution. There is a HUGE difference between being cautious and being scared. The government is not setting up restrictions on things because they are scared. They are doing it to be cautious. We HAVE to change to defeat this new type of war because it surley will not go away if we simply "Go on about our business" like some suggest. We need to FIGHT it not ignore it. People think the terrorists are winning since we are being cautious. I say NO WAY. The only way they win is if we do nothing and ignore it and allow them to kill us, because make no mistake they WANT to kill us no doubt about it. I say lets not make it easy on them by simply going on with life as normal. I say we put more money in defense and more money into this war. Iraq may not have been the right place to start but it could be the place to finish it. Agree?

When gas prices go up, its because Bush controls gas prices! You curse him as if he has a lever on his desk that raises and lowers gas prices at his whim.

Now that gas prices have dropped 60 cents in two weeks, why is no one thanking President Bush??? Where is the praise??
