Politics (Politics & Government) - 23 August 2006

How do you react when you are in a room full of people that mock anything not supported by the mainstream left? I attend college classes everyday, and it never ceases to amaze me how much hate and self righteousness poors out from the faculty and students.

I'm often too afraid of the potential consequences of voicing my opinion. These people are preaching tolerance, but I certainly don't think my point of view would be tolerated.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do? How did it turn out?

Am i a 'moderate'?

I support abortion but i also support capital punishment. I support gun control and i support gay marriage. and i am opposed to illegal immigration and i think that the war on terrorism is justified.

Clearly i am in BOTH sides of the political spectrum. But isn't 'moderate' a person who DOES'T have firm beliefs? I tend to have firm belief in what i believe in.

So what am i , a moderate?

Favorite Conspiracy?

With all these conspriacy wackos on this site that make me laugh quite hard. Made me wonder what one I like the best. Personally it's a toss up between the wacko people that think that 9-11 was an inside job. Although a close second is how people cry Bush has taken away our Constitutional rights..

Since a terrorist attack would guarantee a massive Republican victory, would Bush let such an attack happen?

I'm thinking this is the best strategy the GOP has. Let the crazy Islamists mount a devastating attack on us and then say that it's the Democrats' fault. Americans would surely be respond by voting for the Republicans once again.

Or do you think the electorate would punish the Republicans for letting another terrorist attack to occur on their watch?

Why is reverse racism tolerated?

Bryant Gumbel's comments of Gene Upshaw being on a leash for the commissioner of the NFL is a glaring example. Such a comment in the last 15 years by a white person degrading a black person this way would result in a job termination. Why not Gumbel? Why is he allowed to continue in his racist way?
