McCain has alienated much of the party. Is there another heavyweight out there (Guiliani? Lord help us)?
Otherwise, the game may be up. "Change for the sake of change" will be the battle cry of the Democrats.

They know not of political issues.
Their votes are based on emotions and a handsome face.
The greatest political leaders were in power when women didn't have this right to vote.

The question has three parts...

Do you think Barack Obama can win the 2008 presidential election? Why or why not?

Also, what steps do you think he needs to take in order to be a successful candidate? (Does he need to come up with a plan to carry out his ideas? Does he need to be stronger on foreign policy?)

Who will be his strongest opponent?

Please no yes or no answers.. back up your opinion.

I'm thinking of a first term with a length of 1 year (like a trial/internship), giving the people an option to get rid of a dud early on and then successive terms of 4 or 5 years, if re-elected after the first one-year term.

Would allow the nation to take risks on less reliable candidates with relative impunity.

I would like to know why Barack Obama considers himself to be an African American? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't his mother white?! I have no problem if he was black on both sides. However, he is 50% white!! To me that is like him forgetting his white roots. Please from now on, when you go out campaigning, do not forget your white side. After all, your mother was the one that took care of you. Say something more about your mother's side of the family. Good Luck in 2007!!

I am a supporter of Barack Obama for my own reasons... I was wondering what fellow supporters thought and what the opposition thinks as well.

I am a conservative republican. I personally would rather a democrat win president in '08 than a liberal conservative such as McCain or Guliani. Because if a liberal republican wins and does something stupid, then it makes republicans look bad. And we all if a liberal wins, he's going to do something stupid, it's in their dna!
