We just bought a Chocolate Lab pup (4 months) He seems to be afraid of the water. I'm worried that this will be a problem in the future because he was bought as a pet and a hunting dog. My last Lab loved the water from day one and was an excellent retrever. Any comments?

I have a almost 2 year old male pomeranian. Technically its my sisters, but I have it with me 95% of the time. It still pees in the house! Is there a way for him to stop at this age? When I take it for a walk in the afternoon, it goes #2 and #1 but later in the night, it goes again!

My girlfriend and I are getting a dog in a week. The dog will be alone for part of the day during weekdays and a couple people have told us we should consider getting two because it's not that much more work and they will keep each other company during the day. Has anyone had any experience with two dogs that can verify this theory? Thanks!

My dog got her rabies shot and distemper shot about over a week ago. A couple days later she had several little knots on her left side where the vet gave the distemper shot in. They went away a couple days later. Now I have noticed that she has them on the right side, above her hip. She has a knot now that is on the left side that is about a size of a quarter. We have a coffee table and when she runs, she goes under it and hits her back. I was just wondering if the knot could of came from her hitting the coffee table or something else. I asked the breeder that I got her from about the little knots. She said she might be allergic to something or it was fleas. I have checked both her and my mom's dog for fleas and I only found 1 on my mom's dog. What should I do, wait a couple of days to see if the knots go down and if not, call the vet to make an appointment to get her checked out? Should I set off a flea bomb just in case there are fleas in the house?

I have been thinking about breeding Maltipoo's, but I got to thinking that maybe making up my own breed would be a better idea. I mean every breed came from wolves anyways, so someone had to make up every breed that we have now. I was thinking that since Siberian Huskys and German Shepards are such good working dogs, then mixing them would give the best of both dogs. There is a great breeder close to where I live that breeds those two dogs as well as Dobermans and Malamutes, so I know I can get good quality adults from this guy. How would I get the AKC to recognize that new breed?

It seems my chihuahua was stung by something. He was in so much pain, the vet prescribed an anti-inflamatory and he is now doing fine. I want to prevent it from happening again, but I can't seem to find anything in the yard that caused it. Someone suggested burrowing wasps, but I have done some research and discovered that their mounds have excess dirt around the opening. There are none of these in the yard. There are however little holes completely flush with the ground. Does anyone know what that could be and if it would sting a dog? Has anyone had a similar problem with their pets getting injured by a sting from some mysterious pest?

I have a 4.5 month old, 3.5 lb Yorkie female. I am having serious problems with training. I know she is young, and I don't expect to see alot of results yet, but there are a few things that concern me.

1. Cleopatra (my baby) will not use the puppy training pads. I have had them out for weeks, but she does not ever go to them. She won't go anywhere near them. What can be done?

2. She frequently pees in her kennel. I put her in when i go to work, and I come home to let her out during lunch, but she constantly pees in the kennel. I understand that her bladder control isn't very good right now, but as it gets better, will she hold it, or will she think its ok to do?

3. I can bring her out for 10-15 minutes, and she'll pee outside, but will never do #2. As soon as we come in, she goes on the carpet. She has never pooed outside.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have 2 dogs both rescues that we have had for 3 years each, they are both 4 and 4 1/2 years old. They were crate trained and house broken when we first got them and now they stay in their own room that has a tile floor, they did not have major accidents in the house untill recently. Now almost every night one of them will unirinate or poop in a section of the room. We have the on a regular schedule of going out in addition to feed regularly, We also take up the water at night.
We also praise them when they come in from going bathroom, and give them a treat.
If you have any suggestions as to how to retrain them against it or any reasons you might think.
Thanks so much

My wifes got an AKC Maltese and my buddies wife has an AKC Poodle. We heard that thos Maltipoo mixes bring alot of money. They got em in the paper all the time. So we decided that we are going to breed our wives dogs and have a litter of these dogs. We haven't ever done this before, except breeding wolf hybrids. How much should we sell these dogs for?

Right now I live in California soon to be moving in Seattle, WA. I really want to bring my dog who is a cockeranian (cocker spaniel and pomeranian) As you know, the weather in california is warm. But the weather in Washington is reallllyyyy cold (below 40degrees), and my dog is not the typical furry dog (http://i14.tinypic.com/40b3aio.jpg), I'm really worried that he might get sick. What should I do, leave him in CA or take him with me to WA?

Are pitbulls as vicious as some say they are? I know they've been banned in Denver for instance.

I am wondering cause I want to get a friend for my australian shephard puppy and found some pitbulls at Petsmart. Worried the pitbull might bite people or attack my chihuahuas and kittens.

If they are vicious, what type of dog would be great play buddy for my puppy? I dont want another australian shephard because they are so much work and this one jumps on me and it hurts like hell.
