We inhertied an adorable, lovable resucue puppy last week. We're quite attached to her, as is the family Coonhound. To me, she looks like a boxer. One the way to the vet this morning, I was stopped by animal control, who said we can't keep her because she's a bitbull. I asked the vet, and he didn't think she was a pitbull, that she looked like a brindle boxer mix. The animal control officer stopped us on the way home and I told him that the vet didn't think she was a pitbull, but that she was mixed. Since the vet could not specifically say she is not part pitbull, but only that he didn't think she is, that was not good enough for animal control. I called city hall, and the cheif of police came down (one of two officers in a one-horse town) and he took one look and said, "She's a Pit."

Is there any reliable resource out there to help figure out what kind of puppy she is? We don't want to lose her if we don't have to. If she is part pitbull we need to find the right kind of home for her

My poor Canela is always biting her skin. At first I thought it was only fleas, but they are not causing the problem, she has no fleas. And what`s worse, she`s losing hair in some spots. Somebody, please help!!!

I would like to hear from people that have used it with success.. My dog is an esape artist, I got this in an attempt to stop him from climbing the fense. I use it on him, and I can tell that he feels it but it does not stop him from climbing the fense and running into the neibhors yard. should I keep trying? I have only used it on him a few times. yes, he is fixed btw.

He seems to be allergic to everything - is breaking out and chewing on himself until his rearend and tail are almost bald. The Drs. have tested him for mange and it is neg. They said to give him special food in case it's a beef allergy. After 4 weeks he is worse instead of better. I'm running out of money for vets and ideas of things to try,but wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience? I bathe him in a special menthol-charcol shampoo and give him Benadryl and he is still itching.

I want to get a medium size dog and I will be a very responsible dog owner but I travel approx 6 times a year and may not be able to take the dog with me on each trip. I know a lot of people who have dogs tell me that they can't go places because of the dogs. Dogs don't like to be boarded? Are there any other alt? We don't really want to leave them at the friends.

I have a 9 week old boxer puppy who is not eating the food I bought (Purina Pro Plan for Puppies). I would like to try something else without getting into the real expensive foods as I have 4 other dogs.

he goes to the bathroom outside whenever we are home, but whenever we are gone, he has always went to the bathroom on the carpet in our dining room. (gross i know). but just the other day we ripped out all the carpet and we now have wood floors! what can we do to get him to go to the bathroom, say, in the kitchen in front of the back door where he normally goes outside or something? we DON'T hit him. and we can't put him in a crate no matter how big it is, because he always goes to the bathroom in there, and then sleeps in it and drags his bed, blankets, and toys into it. so we have to wash EVERYTHING including him.
help please!!!!!!
he's a chihuahua, by the way.....

I like a medium size dog that preferably doesn't shed too much. What breed should I look at for a hiking companion that will accept carrying a pack and not get too tired or aggitated?

I have a dog with long fur (not the kind you have to trim) and once in a while she'll get her poo stuck in her fur so I have to wash her whole bum. Anyone know any tricks I can do before I take her out to help stop this from happening? WITHOUT trimming the fur.
Please serious answers only thanks :-)

Hi there, i will be moving back to Australia next year and am in the process of organising my dogs to fly over, and have already hired an animal moving company to help with this, I was wondering however, if anyone had flown their dogs before and which airlines they found the best. I have been talking to american airlines and they seem ok but i wanted to ask since this is my first time flying them. They will be flying from Washington Dc to Los Angelese then from LA to melbourne they will fly qantas which will be booked through the moving company. i guess as many perspectives is what im asking for to get a better understanding of the quality my dogs will receive.
thanks
Aimee

My 15+ year old dog has arthritis all in her legs and hips, and with her joints cracking and grinding, I expect she probably aches all over. Would massaging her joints help? How do you do it? I have no idea how to do it.
