Dogs - October 2006

TODAY IS MONDAY. FRIDAY NIGHT MY NIECE ACCIDENTALLY LET MY DOGS OUT WHILE I WAS AT WORK. (ABOUT 6 AND I GOT OFF AT 10). I SEARCHED FOR THEM ALL NIGHT. SATURDAY MORNING I FOUND THEM BOTH DEAD ON THE HIGHWAY. NOW IT IS MONDAY AND THEY ARE STILL THERE. IT BREAKS MY HEART AND I REALLY WANT TO BURY THEM, IS THERE A NUMBER OR PLACE I CAN CALL WHO WILL PICK THEM UP FOR ME??? THERE ARE SIX LANES OF TRAFFIC AND I REALLY DONT WANT THEM TO THROW MY DOGS IN THE TRASH. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE ANSWER.

All summer his walks were short. I work an hour from home. I am getting up at 4:30 am and the walks are longer and longer. he is 7 years old he knows what he is suppose to do. what can I do?

We have a 9 week old puppy pekingese/maltese mix. We work during the day and feel horrible when we leave to work and hes all by himself. We work farily close to work and stop by during our lunch break to visit and feed him and such. The question is how soon is too soon to start letting him play with other dogs. We have good friends that lives a couple blocks away with 2 grown dogs (chit'zu and pekingese). We want all of them to be pals and interact with each other. When the owners of the 2 grown dogs go to work , their doggies are free to roam and play in the yard. When would be a good age to start dropping our pup off in the morning to play with the other 2 during the day. He has already gotten his first set of shots and will be visting the vet again very soon. Should we wait till he gets all his shots ( 4 months). Also the other 2 are perfectly healthy dogs with all updated shots and records.

I think my dog would be a great therapy dog. She's friendly, outgoing, loves other dogs and loves to be around people. She's a gentle, sweet girl. She's a 4 year old Cocker Spaniel mix that we got from the Humane Society. All we know is her age and that she's from Mississippi. She now lives in Florida.
Anyway....Can anyone give me advice on how to get the ball rolling? Who to call, where to go, etc. I know that she'll have to go through evaluations and some more training and we're ready for that.

My dog looks a lot like a pugoole. (half pug half beagle). He burps a lot, and burps up part of his past meals, only to swallow it again. And sometimes when you hold him a certain way, his "rear end" leaks and we have a small, smelly mess to clean up. We've changed his food a few times, but haven't found something that changes this. He goes to the bathroom regularly. Any ideas?

She just smells bad. We have given her several baths and she still smells bad. Nothing seems to help. Could it be her food? It was changed a few months ago.

the dog is constantly licking his paws till they are soaking wet and also with his saliva turning dark in colour (he is white). I have used bitter spray from the vet/pet stores but he doesn't mind it. Don't know what else to use. The Vet took tests and the dog is in excellent health. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.bb

Anyone know how long does parvo virus take to run its course? my pup is hospitalized at the moment and it's been 4 days since he was sick. I heard if a pup can pull through for 4-5 days, he's more likely to survive the battle. is that true?

My mother in law recently passed away and left her dogs with us. We already have 2 dogs and 4 kids. It's just more than I can handle.
I've put ads in the papers and called several animal rescue services (they all say that they are Full). The dogs are great! Monkey is male Chihuahua100%, he's about a year old.
Mary Jane is 50 % Chihuahua and 50% Daschund, about 18 months old. Both are great with kids and house trained.
Any ideas on how we can find them good homes would be appreciated. We are in the Atlanta Area if anyone is interested in either dog.
