I have a 50 gallon community tank with guppies; 2 platies; 3mollies; 4 Danios; 3 Neon tetras; and 3 cory cats. Guppies out numbered the rest of the fish by quite a few. Recently; however; my guppies number have dwindled dramatically I currently only have 1 adult and about 5 guppy fry (big enough not to be eaten whole) and a few little babies; the small ones are doing fine. Every couple days for the last week I've been finding dead medium to full size guppies with their tail completely missing. I originally thought it was my filter so I covered it so not fish would be injured; however; it keeps happening. How do I find out which fish are causing the damage? Do you think it's just one? And why is this happening? TY for your help

Okay so I started out with what they call a goldfish. but i'm not sure if it is or not. It doesnt look like a gold fish. It's small..not round at all. it has somewhat of a start of gold coloring but a black stripe down the middle of its back. I introduced a black moor goldfish into my five gallon tank with this other fish. after watching them for quite some time the smaller fish keeps swimming underneath my new black moor. then it opens its mouth wide and swims around it and then back underneath it. the fish does this a few times then swims away.. should i be concerned? oh and i put the small one in the fish bowl just in case [so i could ask this question without worrying about my fish.] help?!

I just got this fish on Thursday. It's an albino tiger barb. He seemed fine up until today. His left eye looks HUGE.

Does this look like pop eye?
If so, is there anything I could do for it without going to get medicine? I read that epsom salt might work.
My water quality is good. Everything is where it should be., and I highly doubt that any of my other barbs hurt the fish. They aren't violent.
If it is pop eye, could it infect my other fish?

Advice?

The vet thought it was an allergy to fleas, so they put her on Frontline Medication. Then they said she may need vitamins, so ive been giving her daily capsules, and still nothing, she is starting to get little bald spots, and is losing an unbearable amount of fur. What gives? anyone have a similar situation with Frenchies? (btw, i am taking her to the vet today, i just wanted to know if anyone had a similar situation)

We have a one-year-old who is obsessed with fetching! We throw coins, paper balls, paint brushes, pencils, you name it, and he will bring it back and "cry" until we throw the object again; this could go on for hours if we allowed it. I'm also starting to be concerned that he is never going to willingly drink from his dish again-- he loves water from the bathroom faucet and cries until he gets to drink. Will he ever chill out?Anyone else have similar issues or does our cat need some psychological help?

We have all seen the effect of the BYB's breeding anything with a tail. And since the slaughter houses have closed, I dont see it getting any better. What rules or changes would you like to see AQHA, APHA, PHBA, ApHC, PtHA and all of the other associations put in place to help? I think that maybe offering free registration to a horse that is less than 18 months old and has been gelded may help. Maybe would encourage early gelding. (As you can tell, I am a BIG gelding fan). This may not totally solve the problem, but it may aid in slowing it down some. What are your thoughts on this?

I'm planning to get a pet rat within the next month or so. I've had plenty of other pets, but never a rodent.

I have a fairly large, three-level rat cage. It's used, but has been washed and is in very good condition. I also have cedar for bedding.

I have two cats; one is 16 years old and very laid-back, the other is just under a year old, very curious and playful. She's been playing in the cage since I brought it home; very curious about the scents on it -- I can't smell it, but she obviously can!

I intend to get a young male rat. What can I expect, and what do I need to know? It's my understanding that rats are highly intelligent; are they trainable? Can they be taught to use a litter box, or anything similar? Do they need to be bathed, and how often? Should they be kept in the cage most of the time, or can they safely be allowed out for extended periods? (how do I rat-proof the room?)

Any advice from experienced owners would be great ;)

I can't remember what my vet said. I have given dogs baby asprin before, I thought that my vet said it was ok to give them liquid baby tylenol as long as I gave her half of the lowest dose. Now some people are telling me it can kill my dog. Any opinions? This is a serious question. I can't afford the prescribed meds and my dog only needs it every so often.
