I think I want a puppy, I have a 7 month old baby right now and I think it would be a great time for an addition. What kind of small goods are ok with babys?

IF we cant stop her, then she is going to have to go... any suggestions?

I have a darling cat I adopted 2 weeks ago from a shelter that I adore. He's almost perfect. He is fat (on a diet now), affectionate, always purring, follows me around like a puppy and he loves the attention I lavish on him (I'm single and live in a 1 BR apartment).

Here's the issue: Fluffy is banned from my bedroom so that I have at least one hair-free room in my house and so I don't have him sleeping on my head or that I kick him at night.

So Fluffy sits outside my door and meows with a distinctly sad and whiny tone. I am a teacher and have to get up at 5 each morning. Sleep is so precious to me, but Fluffly isn't letting me get any.

What can I do to get him to shut up at night? I can't sleep in ear plugs (they have caused me to miss my alarm), my apt. complex only allows one pet, and I don't want to let the cat in, nor do I want to take my sleepless frustration out on him. How can I get my needy, clingy cat to shut the hell up at night? Thanks!!

..has suddenly started flaring and nipping my Platys... I have a community tank and the Betta has been happily living there for 2 months now, with no agression to the other fish at all. I watch my tank all the time (that's what it's there for, after all...!)

He is totally ignoring the other fish & is just flaring at 3 of the Platys, the 3 silver ones (I also have 1 orange wagtail)...

I've been watching for the last hour and he seems to be guarding one corner of the tank - when the platys come close, he flares and rushes towards them... and a few times has nipped a platy.
The platys keep going back though, instead of staying away from him..

Can anyone tell me what's going on??

Thanks

Having a pet (such as a dog) and leaving it home alone (in a cage or outside-if its nice out) while you are at work?
My bf thinks its cruel, if you have an animal it should get all your time and devotion.
What are your thoughts on this?

What is the deal with people getting on here asking if their pet needs to see a vet if the animal is sick enough for you to be concerned whether it needs to see vet or not chances are it is! I know vets are expensive but most will work with people on a payment arrangement I really just don't get it if you understand this please explain it to me

does it ever enter the heads of you that maybe we actualy want a bit of friendly helpful advice and not just aload of insults?!?does it ever enter your head that maybe the ones asking the questions have been recomened this site for good advice or that like myself when i asked a question on monday that we cant get the help or advive we need from friends/family due to personal problems?not everybody breeding their dog is doing it for the money & not everyone has access to the information they need.im lucky enough to come from a family of breeders but due to the fact that my 5year old brother has cancer i cant get all advice i need from my family at the mo,due to the fact that they've more important things on their minds!!!its wrong of you to think that your better or have the right to insult people for asking questions, afterall isin't that more responseble than struggleling on their own?if you treat people like that they wont have the confidance to ask questions putting the dogs at risk

She has stopped vomiting, but now she is slinking around the house and seems paranoid. She is usually an affectionate cat and loves being held, but now she won't let me near her and seems to be afraid of me. She isn't hissing.

She usually vomits every 6 weeks or so. I'm not sure why.

She is a Cornish Rex, if that helps.

I'm going into 8th grade, so I can't drive. My dad doesn't get home until 7:15 and my mom doesn't get home until 8:30

What do you think she has? My dad is taking her to the vet later

I'm not sure what kind of toys would interest her, because i don't think she would enjoy the bells and shredders that my conure does. Do they like mirrors?
Oh and one quick question has anyone ever gotten a canary to sit on your finger or shoulder?

i am simply curious...

in my world, my pets are part of the family, and they are cared for and treated as such.

i've seen people who don't have their animals wormed, no flea treatment, not a shot in years...

worms are parasites which deplete the body of nutrients, and can eventually kill an animal. fleas carry tapeworms, and they bite!! sometimes they even get on people, and can infest an entire house.

when we take on the responsibility of a pet, it's nice to feed it and provide shelter... but if they have to go around feeling like crap because they are loaded with worms or fleas, what is the sense?

and while i'm at it, why do people just let their cats run loose? they can spread and/or catch diseases, get into horrible fights, and then there are those individuals who enjoy harming cats for entertainment.

it's really dangerous for a cat out there!

ok so i have 2 cockatiels & they had eggs. & first one of them hatched. & then they threw the baby out of the nest & my brother had to put it back in the nest & then after like one week, the baby dies & we dont know how it happened, we were thinking it was one of the bird that did cause he is really aggresice when he doesnt get his way.
& then the same thing happened when another edd hatched, the didnt throw it out but it also died.
is that normal?
& also, next time an egg hatches is it ok to take care of it by ourselfs?

i have been searching the net over the last few months for information on buying an african grey and i am going to see some breeders over the next few weeks. i "THINK" i know most things about them from what i have read on the net but im looking for some more info from real people who have owned these birds as pets. i hear they can be one person birds? i live with my partner, my labrador, my 6 year old son at weekends and my partner and i are expecting another baby anytime soon.
my main question is, what should i do withing the 1st 12 hours of purchasing the bird and bringing him/her home? and also what is the best things to do over the 1st week?

I have a sick feral cat in my backyard--he's about 5-6 months old--he's become injured in his mouth and is not able to eat. Animal control tried to catch him--with no luck--and I can't get close enough to him to even pet him. He lives inder my shed--but comes out everyday crying and looking at me --i wish desperately I could help him--he's starving to death--can anyone tell me when it comes his time will he go off in the woods and die or will it be under my shed where he's lived? Thx.
